What I liked about this last Lewis fight was he said in the pre fight presser "what you see in the first minute is me I've been working on it in my garage." And he comes out and throws a head kick. We need to protect The Black Beast hes special.

I would agree with that, not even close. It’s beautiful when us the fans see past talent to why they stick and why they are our heroes. Him helping ppl in big truck during floods, my balls were s hot!, his whole demeanor is real as shit! That sticks

@RonniePTexan for me it was the time he was asked to predict the outcome of one of his up coming fight and his answer was "controversial split decision". To me, that cemented him as the most likeable guy in MMA.

His win and loss record doesn't matter at this point. And it's not really all that critical with the MMA fans. The MMA fan mentality is... what he have you done for me lately. That's all they care about. One good win will erase fan memory, and suddenly your no longer washed. Your great again.

Randy Couture is my favorite, but Derick Lewis is bar none best HW socialite. That man is so real! I love when people’s favorite fighters are not stellar records. What it takes to break through to fans with or without a W is so rare. The best fighters can lose and still just get it. But heavyweight personalities. None better ever

I think a big part of his appeal is his inconsistency. Makes it easy to cheer on a perpetual underdog. His fights go one of two ways: either he scores a spectacular KO, or he gets quickly overwhelmed by his opponent. There's no in between.

That's what I was thinking. His delivery of anything he says is natural , funny and seemingly spontaneous. Very quotable He would be perfect for that one-off stuff they did with Tyson fury and Cain Velasquez. Rhonda should have never been a full-time wrestler. It destroyed her novelty. And exposed her weakness in talking and wrestling.
