Great review - you actually take your time and tell us how it feels while you're using it properly. I really like your relaxed approach.

I know that a lot of people who are used to softer pencils don't get along with Derwent pencils. I have both the Artists and the Colorsoft sets and I love them. The drier feel to Derwent's pencils mean that they can layer really well with a soft touch and I love the subtle shades. You may be finding them hard to work with but the effect that you have achieved is absolutely stunning so I hope that you persevere with them.

Nina P , I have Prisma’s , Polychromos, Blicks and Derwent Colorsoft. The Colorsofts are a huge disappointment. I should have just bought a few to try, instead of the 72 set. Oh well live and learn.

CG Gilbo I agree that the colorsoft aren't as good, I do prefer the artists. I just love the colours though.

I just bought the procolours and have not decided if I like them or not. I believe it is going to take some time or get used to them. I really like the variety of colors, they just are beautiful. I feel that the procolours layer beautifully. Love your channel, thanks for all of your beautiful work.

Wow, you certainly receive a lot pencils as gifts, all the pencils I’ve seen you use, they were all gifts, the Pablos,Polychromos, other Derwent, even the Luminance which are really expensive. You are so lucky, I wish I could get something as a gift, since there is very little i can afford, Of course you’re over the moon and full of joy. How lucky for you! Some people are lucky, others not so much.

You’re lucky too, just look at what you have and be grateful. People will ALWAYS have more than you, if you get use to it your life will be richer. I have EVERY BRAND and I just purchased a full set of Holbein pencils. No one gifted them to me either. Perhaps you can get a second job if these are things you want but can’t afford. If you’re not working, maybe get a job. Being envious of others good fortune will not help you much, find a way that you can afford the things you want. I’m grateful I can afford all this stuff…But, I was taught NEVER to be envious of others because there’s nothing they have that you can’t. Push yourself and buy the things you want.

@@redgeminiarts3674wow, it took you a year to actually reply to my comment that I honestly I forgot all about it…but for your information I wasn’t envious at all, just like you I was thought not to be envious of others fortune.. I was really sincere and stating a fact that indeed just about every video of yours I watched you presented a gift that you received, and yes there is luck that contributes to that too…as for you telling me to get a second job,or a job at all, I don’t think that’s any of your business….did it cross your mind that I could be at an age when I am actually retired and also not in good health? Yes, not that it’s something you need to know, but I’m 78 years old, sick, and live on a fix income…so,yes, not all of us are lucky to receive expensive gifts and also to afford to buy them, like you just stated…so,no I didn’t leave a comment because I was envious, maybe a little sad realizing that usually those who don’t need it,still receive a lot more than others who don’t have much, that’s just the way it is in this world…..so your comment was insensitive and misdirected..wish you all the best !

Yes it's frustrating seeing in the low light as your eyes get older! I have varifocals but have had to get stronger glasses for my colouring. I don't like the books with tiny details any more, like Lost Ocean. I have a small de of these but found them too hard. Merry Christmas 🎉☃

I bought 3 of these pencils to try and found them to be hard and I am used to blending and not layering so I will have to give layering a try with them. My eyesight started going at 45. I needed cheater glasses at first and now wear bifocals. I use an Ott Lite for coloring and sometimes Mag eyes which are magnifying lenses that you wear.

They may blend better using a derwent blending pencil last of all to get rid of the stroke marks. I do this with the coloursoft pencils and seems to work quite well. Beautiful work BTW.

I wonder if the performance of these pencils will vary at all with different brands, weight and finish of paper? I notice with the paper in the Bashford books, for example, when applying multiple layers, the paper can get a little fuzzy and yet with a better finish paper, it is not and issue.

Are the Procolour more like The Prismacolors or Polychromos? I have both, but I find the Polychromos a bit chalky and not as vibrant and creamy as the Prismacolors. And I find it quiet hard to blend the colors together with the Polychromos. I want to test them out, but I am really unsure if I like them.

Creative Jessy They are quite a lot harder than Polychromos and do not at all compare to Prismacolor. I think they are closer to Derwent Artist, than to any other proffessionel pencil I know of. I was quite dissapointed that people compared them to Polychromos and said they are only a bit harder. They are ideed really quite hard. I agree they are tending to be streaky to work with on their own. They might be good for blending with paint thinner, but I will not ever consider doing that. So back to Polychromos for me. I was tbh quite dissapointed in them.

It takes some time to get used to them and they lend themselves to layering very well. They are hard and in my opinion harder than polychromos. I think they are going to be a tool to add to your pencil arsenal and the time a project will take with them will be longer, therefore more relaxing.😎

There are other pencils that layer well and cost far less than these. Layering well, in my opinion, is not a trait worthy of added expense if they don't blend.

You can get rid of the pencils lines by tapping on a tiny bit of odourless mineral spirits, I have these pencils and this is what I use with them.

I don't mind a harder pencil .. and I don't think it is necessary to always remove ALL the pencil strokes.. The need for an absolutely smooth coverage, on EVERY inch of a page using colored pencils seems overrated in my opinion... I don't use any solvents or mediums either when using colored pencils. But, as in so many things, it does come down to personal preference .. It's nice there are so many types and brands to choose from.
