Tuesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that would make it mandatory for schools to teach children about the "Evils of Communism".

If they want to teach the real history of communism, they have to go back to where it first started, when Jesus kicked the Pharisees out of the temple for their money changing and usury. That's 2,000 years of history. 1,000 years before we get to Marx's great, great, great, great, great, great Grandfather Rashi. Those are going to be some big text books. I'm all for it.

Can't wait for history to show the horrors of capitalism thanks to last year's pandemic, where literally airlines got bailed out but the workers didn't. Companies could have had masks prepared but decided against it. TX could've winterized their grid but decided not to.

@@richardtravick5794 I’m saying that our education system already fails to teach US history properly and many times does 100% positive coverage of US, this is exemplified when the Cold War is discussed where the US represented freedom and capitalism and USSR was evil communists. It’s way more complicated as both superpowers backed coups and proxy wars that destroyed the lives of millions so that they could expand their hegemonic power. Another example is making the founding fathers demigods when they were just humans with their problems as seen with the 3/5 clause written into the Constitution or the ones who owned slaves. Even John Adams, who didn’t owned slaves, had his failures like the passage of the Alien and Sedition Acts as it made it harder for immigrants to naturalize, this was a way to help rig elections for the Federalists, luckily there was backlash (this doesn’t mean I like the opposition Democratic-Republicans since they also had their own problems).

As usual DeSantis takes a good idea and by politicizing it... messes it up. It is good to teach the dangers of communism, but it needs to be taught hand in hand with the dangers of totalitarianism (even disguised as a democracy) and dictatorships. Much of the time communism is nothing but the cover story to implement a totalitarian state like Russia, China, Venezuela, Cuba, and is starting in many SouthAmerican and African countries. Other times the cover story is religion, like Iran. In yet many other countries the ones taking over and creating totalitarianism are criminal networks or criminal entrepeneurs taking over governments. Regardless, the biggest evils are totalitarianism and corruption.

Florida has lots of immigrants that flee from authoritarian communist countries and they are making it mandatory education to teach kids why. This is normal for lots of states like schools in Alaska teachs about Alaskan native history. The parents that escaped these countries are tired of their kids coming home from school and trying to tell their parents how great the countries they risk their lives to escape are.

My reasons against communism is is based solely on two the things. 1 not one person is entitled to MY hard work except Me . I don't care what your problems in life are . My life's obligation isn't to make sure someone else is taken care of unless I so choose to devote myself to them. 2 I'm against the government having complete and total control over everything . That's my reasons against communism. While capitalism has it's faults it allows a man to build himself up if he has the will and the drive to do so.
