Back in the sixties, when I was in high school here in central Florida, you couldn’t graduate from high school if you didn’t pass the Americanism vs Communism course. What happened? So glad DeSantis is bringing it back!

My son had to take that course. He thought it was stupid. After all, he started his education in NJ and had learned all that long before, in a 100% better school. His world history classes covered it all. He did his senior year high school here in Florida and only had to attend for that one class in order to graduate - with straight A's. It's a shame the schools in Florida are not up to par.

They probably taught you how to do your taxes and let you get job experience before you were 18 too, that is by not fucking you out of the job market with minimum wage, but now I guess fast food stores can only get 16-17 y/o to work for 13/hr resulting in 10$ burger meals from mcdonals.

my history teacher taught us the bill of rights and constitution:) i think i had some of the best teachers, i learned about taxes, bills, how to vote, how to open bank accounts and all of that good stuff:) they said they want us to be prepared for the real world

A large portion of Blackrock is also Private Equity but they push communist values through esg scores as well as want to own and buy up all the land in America and make everyone permanent renters paying way over asking price for homes, though they tried this has had to file bankruptcy on this strategy, they still own a large amount of what should be single family homes. Immigrants from China and Iran are taking over empty house s with squatters rights and being flown into the country intentionally by the same people who destroyed it or are coming through the Darian Gap because Venezuela let's everyone in and Mexico doesn't stop them from coming through as long as they don't stay in Mexico.

Take a little dive into what DeSantis has done from day 1 when he became governor. Then go back another 8 years and take a look at Rick Scott. Include his time when he owned a company that after he sold said company and became Florida's governor said company was fined by the feds for over billing the federal government (stealing taxpayer money). This state (Florida) is a buddy buddy system. If your connected to the right people your good to go otherwise don't get caught.

I heard a young lady who escaped North Korea say there are no cook books in Korea. People have been poor and starving for decades there is no market for cook books when you eat bugs because you are starving. Random facts can have great impact. Personal experience is valuable. There are regimes that do not respect the rule of law, that can incarcerate anyone without evidence. There are regimes in which freedom of speech and worship is non-exisatent. There are fascist regimes and there are democracies that are captured by unlimited corporate donations. There are oligarchies and plutocracies and authoritarians, and various combinations, but THERE ARE NO MORE COMMUNISTS, at least not enough to take up an entire high school academic year. How about a course on anti-racism? Anti-authoritarianism? A course on American constitutional democracy? My father came here in 1962 at the age of 15 with nothing but 20 pounds of clothes on the Peter PAN flight. His passport was forged by the Catholic Church and his grandmother had to bribe Castro's troops at the airport. To let him on the plane, the called him a worm, my father's never taken a dollar in welfare in 55 years ever. He's completely self-made and he's a die hard Republican. The current administration's worst nightmare. He could tell you when he heard President Obama speak It sounded almost exactly like Fidel Castro. He knows a Communist when he hears one.

That is exactly what happened in Cuba in 1959 when Castro used the mostly black population to create a false sense of pride.
