using a half in root rat chain flailing head and descaling a 4 in cast iron pipe. This is an amazing tool and would recommend it for descaling and root cutting.. jetter used is harben 4018

Brian, we since this video have purchased picote machine and descale with this machine the majority of the time, however still use the chain flail root rat from time to time.

Does this method weaken the pipe by wearing some of the pipe - other than the debris?
@mjcontractorsllc6 жыл бұрын
Matt Kenny The wearing of the pipe is next to nothing, based on the time spent descaling the line. Now I would say the longer you sit at one spot and descale, then yes it is possible to damage the pipe by eating a hole through it.

Brian harben 4018 jetter half in hose on the root rat nozzle. Don’t guess the story by looking at the picture. No 3/4 hose on this jetter. Thanks MJ

Must have gone out of business. I would venture to say no more than what has already taken place due to oxidation of the iron. The question is, how much metal loss has taken place already and should you have it cleaned or spend the money on replacing it? Hate to ask a contractor. He might say replace it just to get the job. Need an unbiased source to assess it. Good luck.

Shoeshine Boy A pipe of this condition will clog every other day. This descaling option will remove the build up debris allowing the pipe to function as it should. The metal loss is next to nothing unless you remain sitting with the machine in one spot, thus damaging the pipe. If you own the farm and are willing to sell it, then you can afford to replace the $8000 sewer system with pvc pipe. Now most folks don’t have the farm and are just getting by. So an $800 descaling job could get there sewer up and running for many more years. You have to remember all buried pipes have a life span to and some are just plain shot and some are revivable for a for more years. No two jobs are the same. Good day.

Shoeshine Boy I’m a plumber by trade and specialize in this kind of thing. Replacing old lines is certainly an option and can be expensive. Trenchless pipe replacement is even more costly because of the dynamic. The way this gentleman just cleaned that piece of cast iron was very impressive and if you don’t know what you’re doing it will result in an insurance claim. This is an effective method for cleaning old cast iron and I recommend it to those with cast iron groundwork

The majority of that scale is mineral deposits from water... 95% of that pipe is still there
