Descent 2nd Edition: Forgotten Souls "The Onset"

This is the beginning of my little play through for the expansion, Forgotten Souls. This expansion lets you play the game either solo or as a co-op.
It has been a long time since I last broke out Descent so I'm a bit rusty on the rules. So please feel free to tag any mistakes you catch in the comments.
This is not meant as a rules guide to the game. So with that in mind.... enjoy!

first of all: nice video, i like that game and already bought some expansion packs, but this coop one i kinda missed and found out it today - since it has some different rules and playstyle, i wanted to see someone playing it in yt first and i'm glad you did it, thank you (after about 3 years :p) there another way you could have pick up that treasure with syndrael: you also could have used the ability "advance" to just move (and yes it is allowed to move only without attacking anything, as you can read in the errata page 2): in this particular case it wouldn't make a difference since syndrael was just one space away and for "advance" you also have to pay 1 fatigue

Nice video, nice miniatures, and like and subscription done. At 30:00 when Syndarel had a single action left, you could have, if I am not mistaken, taken a fatigue token to move her one space, and spend an action to search. very nicely done

Spending fatigue to move is what makes playing in Descent efficient so you should definitely use that ability. I believe it was a simple mistake. I'd probably made the same one many times. Also something I noted from the video is that she used her stamina tokens on the hero card to show the remaining stamina. To me it has always been that you place stamina tokens on the hero card as you use them. This makes a difference as some cards specify to count the "tokens on your hero card". If you place the tokens in wrong manner you might accidentally make a mistake when counting the tokens. She did count the health tokens correctly even when using dice to show health so I'm sure she would have managed either way. EDIT: Very nicely backtracked!!

Heh, 7:30, husband or kids? :) BTW my fiance and I love co-op games and we've basically been using your reviews as a TV-Guide to figure out what we're hitting next (I think I've commented that before), so we ordered F2E: FS based on this playthrough and we're loving it. Cheers!

I've been thinking of painting my mini's and I've never painted anything before but yours look awesome! Any tips for a beginner? And is there any paint set you'd recommend for the Descent mini's?

I've been painting minis for a while now, and I always recommend washing all the minis in soapy Luke warm water before painting, then rinse them thoroughly. Gently dry them in a soft clean rag, one at a time. All this prepping will help the paint to adhere better, and look better. I always use water base paints. I usually buy mine at a Michael's Store. Then to bri ng out all the detailing, do some dry brushing. After a few are painted & dry, spay a gloss coat protective spray on entire mini. (Spray just a light coat only !) - (never leave any paint on any brush for a considerable length of time, always rinse brushes in a small container of water between color changes while finishing each mini, & dry on a clean paper towel.

dkyzar I was able to re-film it. I was playing one character while using the wrong character sheet. And the sound in the intro was off. You know what they say about the devil and the details....

Sylvain Hebert It's my secret passion. I painted my entire Battle Lore set. Of course, they went and re-vamped with a new edition. I can't bare the idea of tossing all those figures and starting again so even though I hear 2nd edition is awesome, I'm going to hold onto the original and save my $$. Also, your game should appear next week? Let me know when you get it!

Solo McLaughlin I started to paint my D &D adventure boardgames....i gave up and eneded up buying them on ebay..lol....I have no talent whatsoever :) Will let you know as soon as I get it :) Happy gaming!!
