Along the east and west coasts of Saudi Arabia are two seas that contain a treasure of marine life that few knew existed -- and even fewer had ever seen. The Arabian Gulf was formed at the end of the last Ice Age, some 10,000 years ago, and the Red Sea's history goes back even further. And now, thanks to Saudi Aramco, for the first time millions of viewers across the globe are able to marvel and see up close the exotic marine life that populates these two bodies of water. Saudi Aramco teamed up with award winning British documentary makers Icon Films to produce Desert Seas, a 60 minute natural history production that took more than a year to produce. The film's objective was clear: to expose the world to the wondrous subsurface realms of the Kingdom's waters.

’’Half the reefs worldwide are dying or have died. The cause: pollution and the changing climate with warmer seas!” David Attenborough "AIthough extinction is a naturaI phenomenon, it occurs at a natural “background” rate of about one to five species per year. Scientists estimate we're now Iosing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the background rate, with IiteraIIy dozens going extinct every day. lt could be a scary future indeed, with as many as 30 to 50 percent of all species possibly heading toward extinction by mid-century." Center for Biological Diversity Capitalism is built on the idea, that money and economic growth is the most important thing. l would argue that heaIth is the most important thing without it you cannot live an enjoyable life and for that you need a healthy planet, because without that you cannot live at all.

Weird, this video is by "ARAMCO," the largest company in the world. The Saudi Arabian national company that sells oil to its vital ally, the USA (every time Saudi Arabia, the most powerful nation in the Middle East, wants something quelled, it asks America to come do it for them, like when Saddam Hussein sent Iraqi army to invade and pillage Kuwait in 1990 as revenge for making him fail his invasion into Iran by pulling Kuwaitian oil-money support midway during the long Iraq-Iran war that lasted between 1980 to 1988)

@@faith_alone Don't say "no", you don't own the truth, just put forth your opinion, end of story. If you are going to persuade someone, make an argument, not the one sentence nonsense you put forth. What I said it factually and visually apparent, what the hell is a "history related program", act like we are adults and make a cogent argument, not a high school bully.

David Attenboroughs voice is very soothing, anyone who cares about the future of this planet and has any sense of caring should watch this documentary . why would anyone want to risk such a work of nature. this planet is so unique yet fragile.

Slightly amazed no one has pointed out that this is a PR piece from Aramco - one of the biggest oil companies in the world. What I have watched so far seems excellent but I had my fingers crossed hoping not to see coral bleaching. I hope that is addressed later on. Oil -> CO2 -> sea temperature rise -> coral bleaching.

Coral bleaching happens when a reef gets hotter too fast. But in the Persian Gulf, there are species of coral adapted to hot, very salty water. It's a matter of time, and evolutionary pressure, but eventually the areas of bleached coral will be repopulated naturally. Or the process could even be helped along by transplanting suitable kinds into place (although that might not be the best thing to do).

Fortunately, there is basically zero global warming, and CO2 is necessary for life, leading to greater yields of crops. :)

@@earlysda I bet you feel like an idiot right now. Hottest summer in history right now for Greenland, Alaska and Siberia. Alaska and Siberia are burning like never before. Record heat waves in Europe. Earth sure seems warmer than ever, eh? Who knew global warming is a thing? OH i know, scientist for decades. Oh and those greater yields of crops you mentioned? Yea they are failing en masse.
