Did you know that the paralysis that overcomes the victim from the venom of the blue-ringed octopus is only to their voluntary muscles; they remain fully conscious. Death usually occurs as a result of lack of oxygen. Thus, if mouth to mouth resuscitation is given to a victim of a blue-ringed octopus, they should fully recover. Good. Glad we got that covered. The message here is: stay away from the blue-ringed octopus. We meet other non-venomous sea creatures today too: turtles, sharks 😅 oh and if anyone out there has ever been diving in the Great Barrier Reef, do share!

Very informed documentary, so glad to see the main cause of reef degradation being mentioned here; land farming/erosion. Every creek I've seen in QLD pours brown water into the sea, all the beaches have horrible visibility, even some of the dive sites nearer to the land are absolutely awful with visibility less than 1m. The combination of loss of light intensity and the blanketing affect of the sediments is causing real problems.

I was about to die from an overdose in my apartment in Miami all alone after so many different drugs…I went to grab my phone and I couldn’t even see what I pressed and out of no where KZfaq started and this song played. Fortunately, gillnets will be banned in the Great Barrier Reef by July 2027 to protect endangered species; the federal and Queensland government have announced. Gillnets are used to catch fish, but they can also injure and kill dugongs, turtles, dolphins and protected shark species.
