Edie almost divorced him for the same reason that Lucy did. Also, although Edie knew Lucy and Desi when they were all still married to former partners. Also Edith was particularly jealous about Desi's continued close connection with Lucy, as they continued to speak on the phone at least once a week if not more. Also Desi continued to send Lucy flowers on their anniversary although they had been divorced at least 16 years.

Bowers supposedly wrote his book at 89 years of age, and the ones he targeted were dead and could not defend themselves. whoever wrote that book had people like Katherine Hepburn ordering up brunette women from Bowers etc. You know what, if she had been lesbian no evidence of that she would not have ordered up brunettes at his gas station. That is only one example of malicious maligning of deceased greats who have been sensationalized and trashed by this stuff, makes little sense and unfair. Let his ghost writers interview him about his own life, if he can recall it, not project onto others such dubious often unfounded, dirt.

I read he would go to the whore house weekly and sometimes have 3 prostitutes at a time. Picked up drunk outside the house of prostitution by the police several times - too drunk to drive home. I don't think his 2nd wife was ok with all of this. Btw his alcoholism was even worse in those days as well as his gambling.

Bowers tells lots of stories about dead people. You should have enough class not to repeat them. Dead people also can’t sue. He was paid for his discretion if he did provide prostitutes for people. He’s either a pimp or a liar or both.

I remember watching I Love Lucy as a little girl on Nick at nite I always thought that Lucy and Desi arnaz we're just actors but I was young it's like those family pictures or wedding pictures or pictures of a couple hanging out well of course they're going to be happy I mean who takes a picture on the arguing days sad days I mean what couple would have a friend film their argument or have there bad days on a picture I was a big fan of the I love Lucy show 😁

If Scotty Bowers would have taken 10% of all of the dates that he arranged for people, he would be worth half a billion today. I guarantee Cole Porter alone would probably account for at least 5 million. Scotty Bowers refused to take money from several of his escorts. He let them keep it all.

@TerryCloth Nope, Scotty has the photographs, letters, and home movies to prove what he says is true. Why do you think the families of any of these Hollywood stars have not sued Scotty for libel? His publisher was challenged by someone, but that person went away because they have the evidence.

@TerryCloth You can't. Scotty Bowers only shared the letters, photos, and black-and-white videos with his book publisher and producers of his documentary. There's no way their lawyers would have allowed them to publish the book or make that documentary without reviewing the material. In a libel lawsuit the burden of proof is on the defendant. Scotty made it really clear in his documentary that everything he claimed was true, and he could prove it if he had to. But he didn't want to do any unnecessary harm to the families. This is why those letters, photographs, and home movies will never see the light of day.

@TerryCloth You don't understand. There are Several of these films and photos still around. Vincent Price used to show them at his parties! Scotty was just one of many people in Hollywood that had these photos, home movies, and letters. There are several Books, like (Hollywood Babalon, written in 1959) that talk about a lot of the same celebrities Scotty Bowers cites in his Book and Documentary. And it also names Scotty Bowers. And what harm is a true story about C. Laughton from the 1940s doing to his relatives in 2023? That was almost 100 years ago. And if that hurt you, I suggest that YOU see a therapist. It doesn't have anything to do with YOU! By the way, Defamation, and Libel are two different lawsuits. One is easier to prove than the other. And a Family can sue for libel. Thomas Jefferson's relatives have done so several times.

Arnaz was actually fairly tame in his outside the marriage requirements. He was usually smashed out of his gord while carrying on, often not remembering what he did. He wound up in jail a few times, having to get bailed out. Most of the time it was kept out of the papers. However, as noted here, one time somebody ratted him out and told the star rag what he was doing. Ball didn't put up with his behavior and often went out on him as well. Especially during the War when Arnaz was in the Army. And later when they were big stars. She also would beat the crap out of him at times, especially when he was drunk and couldn't defend himself ('turn around was fair play' she said then). One time she kicked him in the onions several times, saying she was going to make sure he couldn't use that thing again. He ended up in the hospital for a few days trying to explain what happened to him. But the one thing he did to her she couldn't tolerate was his embarrassing her in public. She never did that to him. When he did that, it was all over in their marriage.

Well I read that Desi was very jealous of Lucille Ball for example he turned up on the set all the time when Lucy and Hank Fonda were making the film The Big Street. He was disruptive and finally was banned from the set. While Fonda's last marriage was very solid and he really loved her, his daughter Jane Fonda said that on the set of Yours Mine and Ours (1968) her father really loved Lucille Ball. I know that they were close friends from the 1940's - Jane Fonda was the only one who said her father really loved her - I know they liked each other a lot, but both were in good marriages and were happy in them.

Desi Arnaz grew up in a Latin machismo culture that saw women only as madonnas or whores, that's why he didn't think that he was really cheating on Lucy. Lucy thought otherwise, Supposedly she threw a luncheon or tea party and invited some of Desi's paramours, which included some of her friends. At the gathering, Lucy was said to have remark: "I'm that all of you could come. I thought that you should all meet ... since you all have slept with my husband.." Ms, Ball admitted that her husband was a gambler and she could have ended up broke had she not divorced him. Desi wrote his autobiography so he could have some type of nest egg. When he died, Desi Jr. and his sister Lucie Arnaz supported their paternal grandmother. In later years, Ms. Ball said that running Desilu studios, which had several television series in production, put incredible strain on their marriage which contributed to Desi's gambling, drinking and cheating, In addition to being on amiable term with her former husband, Lucy was good friends with the second Mrs. Desi Arnaz, the former Edith Hirsch. The two women played cards and board games regularly. Lucy was said to be one hell of a Scrabble player. Although he and Lucy had a long and happy marriage, Gary Morton acknowledged that Desi was the great love of Lucy's life

Actually Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz had separate financial accounts - since Desi threw his money around and gambled a lot - he was free to do whatever he wanted. Lucy was frugal and took care of her money - ended up with having at least 2x as much as Desi. Desi when he died left $250, 000 for his mother when he died. His children did not have to support her. $250,000 in 1969 would be over 2 million today. She only lived 3 years after Desi's death.

If a man really loves a woman he will curb his lust and if it’s a mental issue he would get help and try to mend his marriage. There must of been psychologist when Desi was married to Lucy. What I mean by mental issue is he was addicted to sex. But what ever his issues I think he was a very talented man and Lucy was a very talented woman. And both really loved their children and grandchildren.

Desi was a serious addict: women booze and gambling. Hard to know what he got out of any of it. Remember when a young Barbara Eden (age 21 or so) was on a late episode of I Love Lucy - Desi was chasing her around so much she had to hide in her dressing room. She did not care for him at all and said, he made her anxious with his behavior and if she would have been older she would have been able to handle him better and put him in his place. Also at that time said that Lucille Ball was wonderful to her. Can't imagine how foolish he was then, at the end of I Love Lucy while he was in his forties, due to the drinking he was bloated and gray, and looked to be about 60. You could tell Barbara Eden was trying to be gracious but you could tell she felt like he was a lecherous old man.

By the mind 1950's he started boozing when he woke up and was inebriated by noon. He looked old and not so attractive - by 1960 he looked very old, very bloated and not attractive at all.

No Desi was an addict: sex, booze, gambling before he met Lucy, during the marriage, and after it - his 2nd wife almost divorced him too. By the way, when Lucy remarried Gary Morton she looked wonderful; at that time Desi was in his 40's but looked like he was in his 60's.

Desi had the addictions before he married Lucy - when they were married - and into his 2nd marriage - his wife Edie almost divorced him for the same reasons. His addictions were a constant theme in his life.
