Designer Brings to Life Her Grandmother's Sketches

Күн бұрынAn Illinois woman is bringing to life sketches made by her beloved grandmother. Julia's grandma, Georgette, dropped out of fashion school in the 1940s to raise her family. Not long ago, she discovered her old sketches and gave them to Julia. The 29-year-old granddaughter posted the timeless designs on social media. Now they are an internet sensation. So far, Julia has made nearly 30 of her grandmother's dresses.

I doubt it. She might have wished she had the opportunity to go back to school later, but looking at her sweet granddaughter, I imagine she happily raised some lovely people ❤

If she made them in the 40s then she was ahead of Christian Dior and his famous “new look” dress style, aka the style that launched him into the stratosphere internationally post WWII. I’m sort of a fashion geek, lol. I’m a lawyer and judge by trade but fashion is my passion

You can do it! It's a lot more intimidating seeming than it actually is! Start small by stitching something ripped so you get the feel for it and then let your dreams free!

I lost both my grandmothers. My paternal grandmother, Nana, died before I was born. My maternal grandmother, Grandma, died when I was 11 years old. Both women were only in their early 60's when they died.
