Jen shares her latest project: a laser-cut book nook template and kit that allows you to build a miniature diorama to live on your bookshelf. We're inspired by the creativity we've seen in book nook designs, and this template allows you to laser cut and assemble your own, with room for lighting and other electronics. Jen walks us through her many prototypes and the design considerations that got her to this lovely kit!

I know these videos without Adam don't do as well on this channel in terms of views, and that's SUCH a shame - the sheer, impressive, expert-level outcomes that Jen is capable of! The tangible delight and awe Norm expresses when presented with the finished product with those LITTLE DOORS! HOLY PUFFCAKES, THAT THING IS AWESOME. It's a little sculpture, clearly, and with the ATTENTION TO DETAIL Jen brings! The lamp-post has 3 layers and a channel built in for the LED???? That was when I was truly blown away - this build is absolutely top-notch! Limitations like size and shape really do inspire greater creativity!

You could incorporate a "fake book" to pull off the front, with a magnetic switch to turn on the lights. So, for the "forest" you could have a book that has the word trees in or something. Also, using a mirror to have it fading off into the "distance" helps the illusion. The mirror has to be spotless (first surface would be the best for the effect, but hard to keep clean) for it to work.

Alex Hetherington the sky’s the limit. For formative books in my life, Sherlock Holmes 221B Baker Street as a nook would be interesting, or Lord of the Rings I’d go with a Hobbiton scene, or maybe Mordor, then there’s Classic sci fi like Heinlein or Asimov...or Aliens...I think due to my stress state right now I’d go with Hobbiton! A gentle escape. Oh I forgot Peter Pan...Capt. Hook on his ship tailed by the Crocodile...I could go on and on then have no room for actual books.🤓

@@SurleyBlaine that's a great idea. That Dremel tool sounds quite good. Since I have access to a lot of pristine, white corrugated cardboard at my work place, I may be able to cut it out on a cutting table (it's like a laser cutter, but with a knife).
