The lights on the alarm clock are one of my personal favorite tricks. I got wifi bulbs (lifx brand) set them to fade on over like 30 min. Way easier to wake up this way than harsh alarm

Halley 6 is a cool design. What I'd add: I would have a semi-circular loop connecting the front and back modules. The entire purpose of this addition would be mental health: -gardening and plants -some limited animal life, such as laying chickens, aquariums, and so on -a different place to walk, or sit, or just be away from the "main" area I realize the enormity of the expense to build, ship, and maintain such an addition.

So cool! I was an IT Designer for the USAP for just over a decade and I've been to all of the US bases and spent a good amount of time at Scott Base. They were talking about a rebuild even back in the early 2000's. Great to see them pressing forward. I'd also fell in love with NZ and glad to see some elements from the islands being worked in.

Great stuff, although as a Canadian who has retired to Jamaica, I'd rather be here than Antarctica. Penguins can't make up for all the snow and frostbite. I still remember the whiteouts on Highway 24 from Toronto to Collingwood - I seriously feared for my life at times.

Good presentation - i was searching about mars analogue simulations and the Antarctic stations seemed so very similar to the kind of situation a mars mission would endure as the weather is so hostile and the isolation and duration of the winter has similarities to being on mars for a long time as well. There are differences like mars does not suffer from snow fall or high wind forces but has to be pressurised and provide oxygen. Otherwise the sizes of these bases are very similar to what a SpaceX starship would provide on the surface of mars and the crew size would also be similar with 10+ people so a great deal of similarity in number of people and size of area they have to live in. Each Starship if it had the propellant tanks converted into habitat space would have around 2000m^3 of habitable volume so around the same volume as the Concordia buildings or the Halle base though the starship would be about 16 floors high instead of wide and flat. It was good to see the architect acknowledge the similarity to a mars base and answer a few questions about that. In 2025 the Spacex Starship HLS will take NASA astronauts to the moon's surface again. This decade we may even have a long term manned moon base and manned mars base as well as Antarctic bases. If the Starship interior can be furnished and laid out in such nice ways as these Antarctic base camps it seems like living on mars would be reasonably comfortable and a rewarding experience for those who choose to go.

On the Australian one do an enclosed sky bridge between the two red areas having a nice elevated visual view with room area at the middle for a few tables or lounge chair.

An old time English Engineer, 77. One would have some worries I'm sure about the temperature difference between South Africa and -60C. Hydraulics especially must have been a great concern. I would imagine the sealing arrangement was quite exotic. I'm a bit behind times now on things, but surely the hydraulic oil must be like Tate and Lyle's Golden Syrup. I am not criticizing, far from it. Our country is not as it once was thanks to a certain countries gold, money and land grab during the war. Skint before the war, the richest afterwards. Sorry about that bit, but it does get up my nose.
