Those were some insane machines. Drives better than a tank, "eats" more than a tank. Tires probably too. I wonder how they compared to regular trucks like Kamaz or Tatra (air-cooled engine made those popular in Russia, less pipes to burst). 15:00 - So that's where Westwood took an inspiration for Red Alert V2 Launcher (the game happens in an alternative timeline).

These are the type of trucks you needed in the Soviet Union since the country lacked something like the interstate highway system in the U.S. I love the jazz background music. Thanks for sharing!

All these vehicles look like they would be fun to drive off road. With the combination of mechanically complex vehicles and harsh environments I am sure the mechanics and recovery crews were kept very busy. 🚚

Water truck was amazing; fish, duck no truck. With its own ICBM, optional cannon, and extra tanker truck required, other parts sold separately.

Imagine the earth's axis tilting so Russia is now at a lower latitude, the same as America. Instead of fighting the weather now they have a future of continental interstate highways.

0:01 - That first 8x8 truck is crazy... they took ZIL-157, stretched the bonnet to double the length and put it on a massive 8x8 chassis... 2:18 - Is that a ZIL or MAZ? The engine bay looks similar to the ZIL-135, but the cab, sideboard bed, chassis, tires and the whole disposition of that truck remind me of MAZ-535/537... maybe a prototype? 10:01 - ah, the famous ZIL boat truck built on ZIL-135 chassis 11:18 - and now the famous ZIL-135 itself :) 15:08 - that's a ZIL or BAZ with some kind of surface-launched cruise missile, isn't it?

0:01 I believe it's a ZiS - E134 Prototype #1 2:18 That is ZiL-134 15:08 Missile carrier is also a ZiL-135 chassis, it's ZiL-135K

@@UshankaShow so with that I identified the first 8x8 as a ZIS-E134 and the last one is a BAZ-135MB carrying a spu-35 missile. The system apparently is still in use today.

@@mikewysko2268much like the airbags they use for suspension they are found in a lot of SUV and luxury sedans. However a lot easier to to replace than airbags on a Lincoln Navigator. 😂

That's for getting snagged on stuff so something breaks. It makes too much sense to route it through the axle / spindle.
@DirtyHairy1
@DirtyHairy1 Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks guys for the explanation! I guess the outside routing is an easier / experimental thing, and it should work on flat snow/muddy terrain without breaking off too fast.
