The new designs are amazing, and Joerg is without doubt a genius, but I'm thinking that we can actually hear how powerful the devices are by the time between firing and hitting the target. We obviously can't do that with any accuracy just from the sound, but I am sure we can get a pretty good idea. So getting to the point, it seemed to me that the first arrow firing catapult Joerg showed us was the most powerful. There is barely any time between release and impacting the target.

All the time, I asked myself what these stiff "bow arms" are for, if they do NOTHING functional in terms of building tension during the draw. But as always, out ingenious inventor found that too and eleminated all the unnecessary bulk, just to replace it with some "new features". :-) Great work!
@PlaneEasy
@PlaneEasy 4 жыл бұрын
Add a downward grip post (as you've done in the past) to the end of the far end of the slide / receiver to allow your awesome one handed draw power retention. This would require a long slot (length of draw) in the new fork feature to accommodate the new grip post, and the fork would need to be extended maybe 5 - 6 cm past the far end of the slide when relaxed. The fork slot would be closed / bridged at the far end for strength & stability.

I think you could reduce the length of the slingbow by adding a gear and rack system with two sliders (one for the arrow and one for the fork, so that as you draw the arrow back, the mounting point of the rubber is pushed forward by the same amount. This would let you keep the same draw length, but effectively halve the total uncocked length at the expense of some height. Always nice to see your videos! Keep it up!

2 sliding diagonal braces. Much like a tilt-out window pane or casement hinge, perhaps slightly bulkier but could be tweeked. Thank You for the time you take to do all this and inspire other people. So cool your design is. .. ¡Tschuss!

Not good idea. Then the anchor point of the rubber bands is too far to the front and the draw is hard to control.

This is a great development in terms of moving the sling anchors away from the body to build more tension , and thus more power; and there is still the potential to move the anchors further ahead, by using a sliding system to that triangular base to extend it a couple feet further away to shoot, but contract it again to pack it after use. Nice going, keep up the good work Joerg.

Joerg, I actually built a very pretty sling bow similar to yours and even inlaid brass into the plywood made from laminated oak. Trouble is, I am a little 150 pound retired mathematician and 62 pounds is far more than I can draw with a release. I had to drop it to 20 pounds and make my own very long thin arrows to get it to fit this old man.

This thing is dangerously close to being a repeating speargun for divers. The strings connected to the spears would be a fun engineering problem to solve. Draw Assist, larger magazine (it's on the outside now), add the forehandle. Then maybe you need a trigger for one handed firing while diving. Fascinating.

I'd love to see a verison of this converted into a walking stick or cane. Not in any way that would conceal it's nature, but in a way you could use it as a brace when you're not using it as a slingbow.. Would be very steampunk-esque, but I could also see a full-length walking stick version being great for hiking trips or hunting!
