Now that Gru has forsaken a life of crime to raise Margo, Agnes and Edith, he's trying to figure out how to provide for his new family. I love how the the first time we see Gru, it's showing that he's not only adapted to fatherhood, but is willing to go through ALOT for his girls. Not sure I would have volunteered to put on that fairy outfit.

Fun Fact:The person who voices El Macho is Benjamin Bratt,Possibly one of the best Latin actors out there,He’s known for Voicing Ernesto de la Cruz in Coco ,besides coco he’s known for The role of Paco in Blood In Blood Out(this one is hard to find in streaming service because of its mature content but is a must watch too).

A fun fact within a fun fact: El Macho was originally going to be voiced by Al Pacino, who dropped out just before voice recording was to take place. Bratt was a very last minute replacement.

For me personally, Despicable Me 2 is the best movie in the Despicable Me saga out of all of them. It's one of those instances where the first sequel is better than the original, example being Shrek 2, and this may not be a movie franchise, Sly 2: Band of Thieves. Despicable Me 2 is that good of a sequel and I just wish that Illumination had more time and money to make the next sequel, Despicable Me 3, much more better, maybe even good compared than the official DM3 we got, but we gotta accept what we got.

While I do agree that DM2 is the best in the trilogy, my favorite villain Is Balthazar Brat from the 3rd. He's just so much fun to watch. Like I would legit watch a heist movie with him.

Fun fact: Miranda Cosgrove who was the voice of Margo, she reprised the role after the Nickelodeon live action show iCarly ended 2012 and she returned to voice Margo 3 years later.

I’ve watched this movie several times (which I think is also better than the first movie but it still has its charm), anyone notice how the baby poster in the background of 21:48 is like Gru when he tosses his head back while laughing?? 😂 I just thought it was a fun detail in the movie.

I got to say Gru saying Sheepsbutt was a good roast to Ramsbottom's name because it's that silly. I didn't get it as a child but looking back at this again I completely understood he was just being witty.

I’m pretty sure the minions are partially invincible already. With all of the crap they get into and wreck but come out relatively unscathed, they must be. Only difference is that they still feel pain and they’re not as strong and unstoppable.

I can think about many ways how the mystery villain plot could be better, I mean the twist was "the obvious movie villain was the movie villain", it would be cooler if Eduardo really was El Macho but he really quit being bad just like Gru did and the real villain turn out to be a person that looked harmless and Gru ignored it, because it would show that sometimes the bad guy doesn´t look like a bad guy, or if his son Antonio was actually the evil mind behind it all and was doing it without his father even know, just like Gru said before, it would be funny like "omg, he was right!"

Love all your reactions so far Timothee! You're pretty dope. Fun fact actually: there are a few Minions voice actors for this franchise. Most of them are voiced by an actor named "Pierre Coffin"; also a director and in fact the head director of all of these films and the short films done by the franchise - who actually does a human voice in the third film as well; but not only is one of the minions he voices "Bob", he also voices a guy called bob in the Benedict Cumberbatch version of the The Grinch. Minion wise as far as other named ones go: He voices "Kevin" and "Stuart". A few of them are voiced by Chris Renaud, who also voices the Italian waiter in this movie. The biggest-part minion he voices is "Dave". But the minion named "Jerry", whose a bigger deal in the first film than this one in all fairness, is voiced by "Jemaine Clement" (usually known for "Flight of the Conchords" or "What We Do In The Shadows") but actually voiced the villain "Tamatoa" the crab who sounds like David Bowie in Moana which I know you enjoyed.

I watched this the other day and find that it still holds up, I think El Macho and the purple minions as a concept is just great, and is really fun to see. The whole family aspect of this film is pretty satisfying as well. Not as groundbreaking as the first imo, but still a really enjoyable sequel.

19:05 Haha, this first scene of Pollito, where he attacked Gru, is VERY reminiscent of the scene in Shrek 2 where Puss in Boots attacks Shrek and Donkey tries (and fails repeatedly) to break up the fight. We even get an "Alien Chestburster scene" in both of them. And Puss is supposed to be Spanish (Antonio Banderas is Spanish himself) and Pollito is owned by El Macho, who is Mexican. Puss' fight scene had flamenco playing in the background, while Pollito's fight scene had action mariachi music.

6:39 I thought it was really cool and interesting that the voice of Lucy is the same voice actress for Miss Hattie from the first movie, and the two ladies couldn't be more opposite. Miss Hattie was modeled partially off of Dolores Umbridge, of Harry Potter infamy. She's a shorter, curvy woman who wears entirely pink. She seems nice initially, but all she cares about it making a profit off selling cookies and she's mean to the girls who live in her establishment. That's why all the girls don't like her and are scared of her. She's initially attracted to Gru, but that was based on his fake attempted flattery and her brief, mild crush quickly went away. She also doesn't have much of a sense of humor and is very uptight. Lucy Wilde is a tall, slender woman who wears all blue/teal, and most of her tools and accessories are as well. She's very chic and likes to accessorize her outfits with pops of red, like her lipstick, nail polish, and polka-dotted neckerchief. She's inquisitive by nature and while she's somewhat innocent and playful, she's still savvy and street-smart. She was initially tasked to work with Gru as a colleague, and they developed a friendship once he started willingly working with her and realized how warm and friendly she really is. He didn't want much to do with her or the AVL at first, but started to develop feelings for her after she saved him from that awful date with Shannon (who's voiced by Kirsten Schaal, aka Mabel Pines of "Gravity Falls" fame.) She opened up and told him she'd been on bad dates before and ended up escaping them by tranquilizing those dates too. She likes Gru for his somewhat grumpy, dorky authentic self, and she liked his daughters from the moment she met them. They also liked her immediately, particularly Agnes. She didn't judge Gru for wearing a toupee or for going along with a date he didn't want to go on. She started having feelings for him just by watching him be a dad to his girls when she got to meet them. He didn't treat her as a damsel in distress, but rather as an equal partner, even when he was rescuing her from El Macho. Her sleek gadgets and streamlined working style complements his jerry-rigged, chaotic improvised planning style that's rough around the edges. (She has cool, James Bond-y stuff and weapons while he has homemade tools/weapons and of course, the Minions.) She was just as scared to open up to people as he was, but because they bonded, they fell for each other.

In case anybody noticed in the actual movie, gru traped a purple minion on the roof, meaning he didn't get cured. So that is why a purple minion appered in the end.

@@Official_Bastion_E54 it happened when gru kicks a purple minion on the top of a roof, then one minion lands on gru, gru throws him in the hole that was open that was then closed by gru, meaning he didn't taste the antidote jelly. And that is why he appeared at the endo of the film. And not a post credits

The song Underwear that the Minions sing at the wedding, is a cover/parody of I Swear by All-4-One. Originally, the whole song was gonna be jus Minionese but the directors wanted to have one english word and they chose underwear as it sounds like "I Swear".
