I will never, EVER understand what makes these films so financially successful or how the Minions are so popular -_-

The movie felt more like a bunch of episodes from an unfinished Despicable Me Tv Series all mixed together in one movie, which makes it feel a bit crowded at times. Gotta admit though that it wasn't as bad as I though it was gonna be. In fact, I will even say that it's the most I've enjoyed from Illumination since the 1st Despicable Me. I guess that the way to describe this is that it's simple, but effective. Not as heartfelt or depth as the 1st movie, but pretty cute none the less. Though I feel you give too much credit to the sequels and spin-off.

Why does this get a 9/10 for animation but Cars 3 gets a 8/10

I think the only good Illumination movies are the despicable me movies, others are below average or just crap.

Based off of the trailer, I have 2 predictions for the Emoji Movie review: 1. The story is going to be criticized for being a rip-off of Inside Out. 2. It's going to get the seal of garbage.

Despicable Me 3, it was the best Illumination movie I've seen and the best of 2017. It's about time Illumination started doing an animated series of Despicable Me for Nickelodeon someday, because I'm anxious to see it.

I agree with your 8/10, I think the film had a bit too many subplots to manage on the story side of things but the animation was great and it had a lot of memorable moments

I think you officially have some kind of bias to only not see the bigger problems here but even give it a flat out 8 in spite of giving a 6 to the story. The foundation is a really strong one, showing at some point they wanted to focus on a strong story about Gru possibly becoming evil again, along with Dru's backstory. But instead they completely ditch it, barely focusing on the depth this story has, and instead having a really cxliche story of two brothers, even having that "3rd act split up" cliche i hate so much. The characters at least feel like themselves but are not as interesting as before, and Dru just...exists, not a lot to him and he's kind of annoying. That spark that was there before is gone by the time the 3rd of this movie happens. There's barely any heartwarming moments that register and all the problems also don't lead to that many laughs. It's pretty clear this franchise is a cash grab now as they can't even use their few good ideas right. Par for the course for Illumination, i guess.

I found a major plothole, being that in one scene, they leave a plot important car in a different area, but have it in the climax, creating an issue where they shouldn't be able to do what they do in the final act.

Who else thinks this is the best Despicable me film yet? I watched all 3 recently, and this one felt like the smartest, and most enjoyable of the three movies

Realizing the Emoji Movie is the next thing on the list, I have to say... I kinda wanna have a tiny bit of hope that it might bring something new. I don't know if it will happen, but I'll give it a chance. I'm pretty sure though it will probably just be the same old "Be Yourself!" trope we've seen a lot of in movies.

I really like the first two films, but this is the most disapointing animated film from the year and one of the most from the year, I just think is ok but I think If the year ends now the only animated movies from this year that I will watch in the future will be lego batman and captain underpants

Having not seen the second one, I thought this one was just okay, with a great climax, and a surprisingly great subplot with the Minions.

Sorry but I think Captain Underpants Movie and Lego Ninjago Movie are both superior movies than Despicable Me 3.

I would rate Despicable Me 3 a 6.5/10 I thought the movie was really funny and I absolutely loved the character of Brat especially with all the 80's music playing but the writing IMO was weak. Most things that happened in the movie could've been put into a despicable me show or illumination shorts like anything that happened with minions and the hunting for unicorns. The movie was enjoyable tho

I never laughed throughout the whole movie

The story and character were a bit fast

Just watched the third film on Blu-ray after catching up with the 2nd film. And while I liked Trey Parker and some of the heartwarming moments the story’s side plots made the film rather forgettable. Not a terrible film and it does have some moments including Gru’s relationship with his brother, the story still underwhelmed me. The first two films had their share of dumb moments but at the very least they had a nice balance of comedy and drama.

3:33-3:37 But a Despicable Me film that is really lacking its humor. Kids will love it, but most of is even more annoying than the jokes in Home or Trolls. Like when the Minions raspberry to Gru. Did anyone besides me found that funny. Wouldn't be surprised if Animat got a huge laugh out of that scene!

Honestly this was the weakest of the DM trilogy. Not bad, but just mostly okay. I found Balthazar Bratt to be a pretty weak villain too. I'd give it a 6/10.

This reminds me of videogame trilogies. They usually have multiple playable characters on the third game when the previous 2 didn't. Which is what it feels like with Dru

I just thought it was unnecessary. The second movie had a fine ending and left no reason to make another sequel. With the poor quality of the story and the absence of character development, it is fairly obvious that this movie was 100% money driven.

I still can't believe the first film got a higher score than HTTYD, for having an "old story done differently," much like HTTYD did. There seems to be a bias with this company.

The amazing thing that i have found about Illumination is that most of their films gross astronomically higher than their budget. For example, it takes around 70-80 million dollars just to make one film, in return, they get 300M-1B+ dollars! That shows that they are successful with smaller budgets, most Disney films need 150M+ budget to get more than 500M.

To me, it was okay, but it felt like a slight rehash of the second film, but with a few interesting parts. It wasn't as bad as Cars 3 (which was boring [except for the cute short at the beginning] and only had one good part: Cruz Ramirez) or The Boss Baby (which was my worst movie of the year since it ripped off the superior Storks), but I'd watch it over those two films. Also, there were only 5 other people in the theater when I saw Despicable Me 3, possibly since it was the day before the Fourth of July.

I believe your the only person who really likes Despicable Me 3.
