You can only hate Despicable Me 4 for being Despicable Me. No matter how much I hate that franchise, I'd prefer it over what Disney has done in these past years. Rather have a bad movie than a bad movie which creators also hate you. I don't want to give any money to my enemies.

You may think that DM4 is not woke, but not at its Rotten Tomatoes rating. It scores much worse than Inside Out (54% for the former as opposed to 90% for the latter), while still have 90% audience score. Therefore, i predict DM4 will likely end its box office run at $200M lower ($1.1B-$1.3B) than IO2 final numbers ($1.3B-$1.5B), assuming that Despicable Me 4 theatrical run is fixed at 45 days as opposed to IO2 100 day theatrical window.

Disney is trying to claim the top spot for the year, which it probably will with Moana 2. But now it’s less likely to win that title with Inside Out 2. Barbie and Oppenheimer are two different genres, not competitors. That’s not an applicable comparison.

We went opening day right after lunch. Took the kids. They were offering these awesome “Merch deals” with a themed minion: tin/pail (which you could put your small popcorn in -that came with the purchase), a small 7” minion plush - of your choice, a minion cup with themed topper and straw (which also included a small drink that you could fill in) ALL of this PLUS another medium drink for $30.00. You couldn’t beat that deal with a stick. It was an awesome surprise and my kids were thrilled. Not expecting that extra merch, but it was so much fun and added even more to the experience over all. We had a great time. The movie was cute, and had an actual funny storyline which ran throughout. No worries, no concerns over “teaching my kids” or “explaining the jokes” to my kids. Just simple enjoyable family fun. Not one joke was inappropriate, and not one concern for me as a parent. We had a great time, I recommend. Take the kids. Go see it. 🎉

I got to watch it early in Australia. I thought it was a very fun movie. I dont think there was anythng woke in the movie. I think its the opposite of woke - at the heart of the franchise is Grut who is actually a strong father figure, always looking to protect his adopted daughters. And in many ways he is a father figure to the minions. And then of course there are the minions, in this one the main three become super spies and have super powers, they are very fun to watch.

Over its frist five days of release IO2 made 205 million. The number for DM4 are a 5 day holiday period and not just a single weekend. DM4 is only making 70 million or so over the weekend.

Where I live in Australia , we are not America centric. We are in the SOUTHERN hemisphere and it is winter down here. No, forth of July celebrations. School is having its winter holidays and kids will want to see this in the cinema's while on break too.

The movie was good enough to watch it twice, the kids in the theater, were laughing throughout the movie, lots of member berries, the sound track was good, the side hustle with the neighbor girl was a little weird, but it fit better in the end, but still weird, I say take the kiddos

Remember Inside Out 2 already lost its premium screens to A Quiet Place BEFORE Despicable Me 4 debuted, and it still had a monster 3rd weekend. Inside Out 2 will continue to do business throughout the summer and into September etc. It gets the same runway as Despicable Me 4.

This may be a harbinger of things to come in the theme park realm between D and Universal. I'm thinking D may be in big, BIG trouble. My mom and dad, who are in their 70s, went to the movie today and they loved it. She said it was really cute. So this isn't just for kids. They didn't go to IO2 because even they are sick of D's antics.

After this weekend I bet Inside out 2 will reach 1.2B, the international audience is still going strong and has 20M each weekaday in the meantime and it looks like it could reach 1.4-1.5B in the end run. I hope for the best for DM4 but it's not as good a movie as Inside out 2 in my opinion

Seriously Pro, where are you getting your numbers? Quorum had this forecast between $120-129M a month ago. Hollywood reporter was predicting $100M+ just 3 weeks ago. So this looks to hit between those 2 predictions. By contrast, Inside Out 2 was forecast from $70-90M and almost doubled those estimates. I don’t see DM4 having the same drops as IO2 nor doing as well overseas. Plus it’s starting from a lower opening weekend which means it would need better holds to overcome that lead. IO2 will likely win the head to head battle comfortably. I’m afraid these predictions look to be as bad as your early predictions about Barbie losing its momentum quickly. You need to start bringing in more knowledgable guests for these types of segments. Box office predictions aren’t rocket science but it isn’t the same as predicting theme park attendance or future renovations for “The Haunted Mansion”.

We saw this yesterday. I couldn’t believe that I caught myself hoping that there will be a Despicable Me 5. Generally by the 3-4 sequel I’m begging them to please stop. Case in point the Toy Story franchise.

I saw DM4 opening day & planning to go see it again, eventhough it's not as good as DM 1 or 2 my 2 favorite of the franchise. I've been so desperate to see a good animated movie in theaters that DM4 checks most of the boxes for me. Worth the watch to go and have a good time.

The movie was ok and I think Inside out 2 is better but of course The Minions are very popular. The thing that still amazes me and I continue to ask why is Disney still spending 200 million dollars maybe more making their movies. All 6 of The Despicable Me movies combine cost the same amount Disney budgets into any of their movie projects and its insane. Where the heck does the cost go to?

I am honestly confused how $200 million in five days kicks a movie out into the stratosphere that made $295 million in just three days. Not to mention that this phrase sums up Desicable Me 4, how it is forgettable, and how the reviewer who said that also said that he will never forget INside OUt 2. I just finished watching another review where the guy siad he is done with this franchise, that is how bad the new one is. And then there was the girl who saw it as a kid and after fourteen years, Illumination basically said they dont want her to watch Minions films anymore. Or at least with this one they brought in zero effort. I mean Shrek and Mario are beating out most Disney projects despite having been around for decades, only MOana slaying them (although I feel that Frozen was hurt by its terrible sequel, otherwise it would be slaying too).

Inside out 2 has been in theaters for longer pro. It’s gonna have a 100 day release window until it goes on D+. Also universals last animated movie migration made less then super Mario. The only reason why super Mario made money was because it’s based on a popular franchise but despicable me 4 is getting mid with each movie.

There’s also Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot for Disney to contend with. While it’s not a family film in the same sense that Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 are, chances are Aslan will move in Hollywood once more and the film will do numbers despite its $8.5 million budget. Angel Studios is one to watch this year- chances are Bonhoeffer and Homestead might smoke Wicked Part 1 and Mufasa this November and December, respectively.

Bonhoeffer and Homestead might smoked Wicked part 1, which alongside Gladiator II will smoked Moana 2. It's another interesting scenario that you plant here, cuz there's a buzzy rumor that is taking shape on the websites, many people are calling Wicked and Gladiator II, the barbenheimer of 2024. On the other side Mufasa is going to be exterminated at the box office by 2 movies, one is Sonic 3, everybody knows that, the other one is going to be The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim, which opens a week earlier.

Um, even remotely suggesting that Moana 2 can beat a movie that you are predicting will beat out Inside OUt 2, no. It would be ludicours for a TV show intended project turned into a movie to be top quality material, look, this is Disney we are talking about, they are the KINGS of procrastination. A kid who waits until the morning a project is due to even get STARTED on it, that is Disney. Toy Story 4 for example didnt get its writer until the January of the year BEFORE the year it was due to come out. I can give more recent examples too. BUT even so, Moana 2 will be a better trashfire to expose your family to than Wicked Part ONe, guaranteed. Even if it disrespects canon, even if it has a silly premise, even if it somehow doesnt have Tamotoa in it.

For me, even when Despicable Me 4 opens with huge box office opening, it will not able to overthrow Inside Out 2 as the highest-grossing film this year. DM4 will likely end its box office performance at $1.1B-$1.3B as opposed to Inside Out 2 numbers at $1.3B-$1.5B. We may also count how other blockbuster film fare well aside from two films, which might impact BO performance of two films. We must remember that rotten tomatoes rating for Despicable Me 4 is much worse (roughly 54%) than Inside Out 2 (90%).

I like the channel but Despicable Me 4 looks to be a decline from the Minions 2 years ago meaning it will continue to be profitable and popular but not close to making a billion (Minions '22 made $900M+) while Inside Out 2 will likely blow passed Barbie in the summer holidays to become the No.1 animation film of ALL TIME...IDK why the need to use DM4's opening weekend to create a weird narrative against an ultra hit film's 4th weekend to dunk on one's own credibility.... Btw IMO Pro has a big biased against Inside Out 2 unlike one of the guest's wife who took their kids back for a 2nd weekend...the *spoiler* ending about Riley being a person with many traits is totally not against our Christian faith I don't know if Pro has been listening to Joel Osteen or what, human beings are NOT good as Osteen claimed, we have the flesh and the scripture clearly stated not 1 person is sinless or good other than JC, that's why JC came to earth bro. So Riley being not PURE good doesn't contradict the faith at all and it doesn't mean it's woke if Marxists decide to interpret that as "criminals are good" "nobody's good or bad, it's all relative"......clearly many Christians or parents have no problems with it as shown by the insane box office result.

Moana was never that big a hit. Moana 2 was, by all accounts, rushed out the door, pieced together from a streaming show, and is probably woke. Inside Out 2 seems like a one-off success for Disney/Pixar animation in an otherwise dark age.

Not surprised, Illumination's name still has a lot of weight behind it, _especially_ in regards to the Despicable Me franchise. Personally reckon 4's the weakest of the lot (Minions 2 included, never saw 1), but it's still a good movie in its own right. Here's hoping the studio never goes the way of Disney and just focuses on making good family movies.

Inside out 2 was in my opinion always a bad idea. First of all the biggest criticism of the first movie is the Negativity. The movie centered around 5 emotional states, where only one is inherently good. Those states being joy,sadness,fear,anger and disgust. And what did they do, add more negative emotions. And what new emotions did they add breaking the cannon? Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment and Envy, all new and negative emotions. If you can even call them emotions. Like Embarrassment could easily be done threw disgust or anger. Anxiety is not an actual emotion and is more of a aspect of Fear. Envy is clearly driven by anger over something the person couldn't achieve. And god Ennui, why the hell would they even use this vague term. As its more or less just a feeling of being board. The girl dose not even have a dam job. And she is already dissatisfied with how boring her life is. To the point that they need someone in their head to tell them that. Instead of the 5 current people. No........this movie might have been decent. but the overall themes of it was dumb.

Despicable me 4 will win even if it ooses as you forgot a very big differnce jonas almost got there mentioning all the extra money chances the minions give. But you forgot the budget...even in a deadlocked tie where they make the exact same at the theater universal pockets more revenue. But if the numbers are at super mario plus level with a clear run way for almost half a year...this could get to thevpoint it knocks fisney off the animation top spot as well...something mario just lost out on toward the end of its run. This will decinate the good news of inside out 2 box office if it gets heavily beaten by despicable me 4 as it will show disney not being on top form for animation even with a billion dollar movie and thats an ouch when your compitors show they got your skill level and your out of practice

@@bulldogsbob That's not an anti Disney bias. It's a, "what's so great about this movie" bias that a lot of people have. Explain the idea behind Inside Out to someone. Then you're going to get asked "so why is this interesting"? To be fair, the simplicity of the idea and the visuals to represent it is probably what made it. But this isn't something many expect to succeed. And knowing Disney's shenanigans, it's just as likely to be a "cook the books" scheme than an actual success.

I dont get the arguments made in the video. If this performs as well as the other Minions movies, okay, but how CAN it? Over and over the reviews are saying that this does not appeal to many who liked the other movies. Also if THIS one, which is said to be lackluster, does as well as Pro suggests it could, which is way better than the others, than that means Illuminatin NEVER has to put any effort in their films again, other than Mario ones with Nintendo breathing down their backs.
