I think it could be, so that his heels don't touch the ground and aren't obstructed in executing those double strokes.

It helps do double strokes easier. You can gravity blast with your feet.

@@lordmarco I've found you can get a similar effect going barefoot, since your heel can drop way lower than the ball of the foot still on the footboard. Shoes don't let that happen. Just one more smell I'm happy to provide to the rehearsal space.

I’ve always loved how Alex does stop and go blasts with rolls on the snare and uses his toms in his blasts !!! Kollias and Roddy, Laureno, we’re all the extreme metal guys but Alex was not as well know. . Even Samus agrees he’s one of the best to do it !
