Variks is a character with no real friends or enemies, he only has his interest. His interest or loyalty is the survival of the Eliksni people.

I never realized how old eramis actually is. She was alive not only when the traveler left the fallen, but when it arrived hundreds of years ago.

"Eramis could have grown to be an immense threat!" Didn't that happen in the Stranger's Timeline? Hence the time travel and coming to Europa?

Eramis is an extremely interesting character for me when looking over Eliksni lore. Love this vid.

I really hope what the Darkness told Kridis was true, and Eramis will come back to life, stronger than she was. She was killed off too quickly in my opinion.

6:18 Eramis has no House. She kneels before no banner, owes allegiance to no Kell. She is a shipstealer, and very good at what she does. I have been tracking her since she broke out, yes? Now Eramis works for Darkness, but not for long.

what saint 14 and ana bray say on the radio at beyond is very interesting they tell you how powerful eramis was she was respected and feared by them both.

I think they might actually have further plans for Eremis. Her _literally_ being in stasis and us not smashing her like we've been proved more than capable of is definitely a hint to that. They've built her up for a while as such am interesting and formidable foe, just for is to defeat her so quickly. Here's to hoping they have a few tricks still left up their sleeves for this interesting piece on the multidimensional chess board

At 16:33, In case y'all are wondering who is Athrys. For Hunters, her name might look familiar because she has an extoic named after her, ATHYRS’S EMBRACE. She really isn't mentioned in any lore books besides "The Once-Shipstealer" but Variks does talk about her relationship with Earmis in the Sabotage lore tabs. Basically, Athrys was Eramis' mate back when the Traveller was still with the Elkisni. They had many hatchlings and were quite happy together according to Variks. We don't know her fate but Eramis mentioned that Athrys was banging on the walls of her own or Eramis sleeping pod begging for the Traveller to come back. For me, I believe Athrys and their hatchlings are dead. It would provide a great motive for why Earmis hates the Traveller along with her other motives. It would explain her hatred towards the guardians and Traveller is much more impactful because in a way, the Traveller took everything from her. It's also a bit of irony because the Traveller destroyed her past life. We destroyed her present one by killing her House and all the dreams a better life for the fallen with it. It is so cool that this one lore book connects Forsaken to Beyond Light. It feels weirdly... natural.

The final tab when Eramis was talking about Taniks was sooooo cool, the imagery of all the Fallen VIPs storming the city is just so cool

Eramis is one of my favorite main villains in the series so far and even though there wasn't much for her cutscene wise her and her generals (cant remember the exact term) during those interactions was pretty neat even her voice lines made her character one of my favorites especially with the strike and her trying to bring a vex army was actually pretty smart in my opinion if she was able to figure out a way to control them and we weren't able to stop the mind and the hydra or her she definitely would have been the next ghaul in able to take the city and possibly the entire system even faster than the red legion did

I haven't played D2 yet, but Eramis sounds like an amazing character, who really shows how the Fallen were such a threat to city so long ago. I wish she'd been teased during house of wolves, even with a throwaway line. I hope she becomes the equivalent of a guardian for the darkness.

Video series idea; Deep dive into individual enemy types / subtypes (minitor, captain, ogar, ext) their background lore and how they interact with others, pepper in some stories about key individual. Just like this video it will help us really understand the motivations of our many foes.

I honestly wish that the campaign ended with stopping Eremis' empire from attacking the last city in something like another battle of eight fronts. Then she could be maintained as the leader of the fallen dark empire and the ability of these dark fallen to continue using the darkness would make more sense. As a villain Eremis brings something destiny hasn't ha in villains thus far, an actual fascist. Like, she is an incredibly close parallel for the nazis, even with her own "stabbed in the back" conspiracy centered on the traveller and a race she wants to genocide (us). As an enemy she could have been our most compelling and dangerous for so far.

Listening to this lores while eyes close is amazing lets me imagine whats going on in the lore! 👍😁

One thing that keeps bugging me is how Atraks became Atraks-1 so quickly and when Eramis says “prepare the body” was she referring to Taniks?

Can we get a lore video talking about Siegfried? I read about him in the Titan Wild Hunt armor. He is a Titan of the Praxic order and one of Ikora's Hidden. Super interesting. Also, the regular flavor text of the Wild Hunt armor hints at some smart creature in Old Chicago that killed several Fireteams trying to hunt it. Reminds me of a xenomorph.

I’ve always wondered...did the traveler bestow it’s “light” on the Eliksni the same way it does with humans on earth currently? Basically we’re there Eliksni guardians then? Or did they benefit in a more “golden age” manner without the space magic? I’ve always thought an Eliksni guardian would make for a dope subclass.

I can imagine byf in the destiny universe as a warlock who tells stories and talks about his findings on a podcast

I want to point out that Quitters Well in the Tangled Shore is really close to a fallen city/community. The entrance to the Hallowed lair strike seems to be surrounded by eliksni homes.

It's also important to note - when talking about Eramis in contrast to other Fallen leaders - that she is not only doing away with the idea of taking back the Great Machine for the Eliksni, but she is also giving them a new home. This is a fundamental paradigm shift in terms of what we've see previously. There hasn't been an Eliksni to this point who has stood in opposition to us who has offered something "new". The Devils, the Wolves, they wanted to destroy us and take the Great Machine, but Eramis proposes to - yes - destroy us, and then build a new Riis, a new home so that the Eliksni no longer exist as a species of nomads and pirates.

Now I wonder if perhaps we could have reasoned with Eramis. She was not irrational, just lost in the search for a future for her people. (Thx for the video Byf, it help me keep up with the lore now that i don't have that much time to read in peace.

I hope eramis’s story isn’t done they hinted at it with the kridis empire hunt but I feel like it’ll come back into play in the future

Hey, i just listend to your video about savathuns Song. 3 Days ago i was walking around in the city. I was passing by the cleaner Robot in the corner when you go from the right landing platform through the Room with the Tree. (He is swiping abit behind that the little Dead End on the right side) And he was actually humming that song while i was passing by. I had no idea what that song was what so ever until i watched your video. I am not to deep into lore, but does that mean Savathuns song also infects machines?

A not totally completely unrelated question but something I was thinkin about, is Stasis or in the least our Stasis subclass "corrupted" darkness since it was "given" to us instead of instead of "taken" from some source, like how Oryx took "taking" from Akka? The Darkness even mentions how it's a "gift" it wants us to have but that should be an aspect of the Light's nature.

Still waiting for Eliksni to become a playable race. I don't mind even I don't get to use the light sub class.

You left out a little bit about Eramis, her wife Athrys, and their children back on Riis. She was friends with Variks, and studied the Traveler before the Whirlwind. How much she lost, and the Traveler's apparent betrayal feeling so personal, play a big part in her motivations.

A Dreg of House Salvation shivered in the desolate cold of the Cadmus Ridge. How she longed to once again be on the tropical Venus, though that land had long been cleared of her former house. Two other dregs sat near her as she kept lookout, they whispered and laughed as a vandal and two shanks scrounged an old human chest. The other two were speaking of some story about the old Kell, something about how Eramiskel would return as a god and cast the system in Darkness. She never understood their fixation with the Kell and her darkness, she came to Europa for safety, not another war. Of course she did not voice these qualms as she would likely receive harsh reprimanding. She had witnessed the powers the higher levels of the house wielded, and she wanted no part of it. It was so...unnatural. And to see the Machineborn use the same only confirmed that they were not meant for Eliksni hands, or at the very least did not care whose hands wielded them. As she thought this, a figure rose from over a nearby ridge, she only had a split second to notice it was a Machineborn before she felt a searing pain and heard ringing. She fell over, writhing in pain, unable to see or hear. She rose her head and could just barely see the outlines of shanks falling apart and the vandal running for his life only for his head to explode with Ether. A shadow fell over he, a rifle aimed at her head. The Machineborn's faceless helmet faced her and somehow she recognized it. She soon realized she had seen it when she had served the House of Kings and witnessed the fall of Skolas. And for some reason, she did not feel fear. She waited, staring into the depths of the helmet for the end... But it did not come. The Machineborn's tiny servitor appeared and spoke to it, nodding towards her. It said nothing until it heard its- his- voice from behind the helm. Speaking in Eliksni. "You do not fear death. You do no fear me. Either you are brave or foolhardy. Either way, if you seek freedom from this forsaken world." He tosses a small machine pad to her feet as well as a small tank of Ether he looted from the vandal. "Follow this. I will wait." And like that, in a flash of light, he was gone. And she was left there. She quickly took the Ether and the pad, which projected a holographic map of Riis-Reborn's northwestern sector. She did not know why, but she felt compelled to follow it. From on high, the guardian watched the Dreg crawl away, with a fierce will to live. Despite himself, he smiled.

Can you talk about the lore of Taniks next?

Beyond Light's only major story foible is that it killed off all remaining named Fallen antagonists. It wouldn't have been too terribly hard to 'beat' Erasmis without killing or capturing her, sort of putting the fight on hold. We'd still have a big climax where we master Stasis, but from that point onward we'd have not only an Elinski antagonist on the board, but a rival.

I just with we had some buildup to Eramis before the dlc dropped. Like maybe signs of the fallen going to Europa or whispers of the fallen wielding darkness. It just felt like she was just put there cause they needed a villain but yet again the story is in the lore and not the missions.

I wonder how Mithrax is doing with the Eliksni civilians since the evacuation mission of the campaign step. Hope we get to see him someday.

I actually Eramis she is an very interesting character she does care for her people but going about it an the most extreme way. How she said once in an conversation to us as guardians oh how we could of been allies I will rooting for this but sadly she couldn’t be saved.

Maybe I’m weird but I definitely found Eramis to be the most sympathetic villain. If this was some kind of multiple ending single player game I’d have sided with her.
