Ok, I figured something out Byf that most won't believe but maybe you'll see the connection. The Ascendant plane is literally the memory of the universe inside of The Veil. Throne worlds are pocket cysts. Will and memory manifest throughout the darkness. An echo of themselves preserved. This is why areas people think about are stronger in the Ascendant realm. Area compressed. That is why troop movement is so effective between. You can walk Vast distances between the stars in a moment because those areas are not remembered. Or they are a shallow memory. Compressed.

Until he cried over Holliday in this campfire, I had not accepted him. By the end of the campaign, he really is someone I can fight for.

I do find it strange that, for people who live for centuries, are still on the market but no one is shopping. Like, okay, we had Zavala and Safiyah, and we have more, but we have not really explored much of the emotional stories of Guardians, at least, not in a way that actually grew into something new. Amanda and Crow were definitely something, not officially, but it was something I think. For all the great things about Destiny and its mysteries unravelled since 2014...it lacked that aspect of humanity and, ironically, something essential to all life - connection. Destiny is a tapestry, like 40k or Star Wars, just waiting to open its many many doors to explore all genres. Gangs below the Last City. Cosmic horror in Darkness corrupted Star Systems. Tragedy, Comedy, parody, all that good stuff.

When I was replaying Lightfall I had a thought. What are the odds Calus thought the Witness was the Winnower? Calus seems to be a Winnower fanboy now that I look back, which would explain his frustrations with the Witness in Lightfall.

I wonder. Where is the Black Fleet? As far as I know, the Essence was broken by the Traveler, and at least 5 or 6 were pulled into the Traveler alongside the Witness. Then there was one that Mara Sov destroyed. So, there should be several Pyramids unaccounted for. Where are they?

These dives into the temptations really highlight how absolutely pivotal Season of the Haunted was. Had Crow and Zavala not resolved their demons back then, we easily would have lost one or both of them at this point.

I still hold out a hope that Amanda will return as a Guardian, specifically a Titan. If it can happen for Crow it can happen for her. With Zavala’s light now gone and his eventual need to retire, we might have ourselves the perfect new candidate for Titan Vanguard. It seems that eventually we’ll have completely new guardian leaders.

If not though, I would like to redirect you to Neomuna and the decrypted logs of Chiona Esi. I only just finished this mission after doing the weekly mission for this week, and my I feel like all of my theories of who is causing the problem on Nessus has been confirmed and I’m curious as to your opinion on this and how it might relate to other lore. The witness doesn't realize that this was never going to work. It sounds like a tempting offer, to someone like the Witness. But anyone who knows Amanda, knows the REAL Amanda would kick Crow's ass for allying with the witness... Crow knows what the witness is offering, isn't the real Amanda.

I think the writing staff and voice actors deserve a lot of credit for pulling off these beers real temptations so well. I broke when Crow was talking about Amanda, and was sobbing through Zavala having to *relive* the deaths of his wife and son again. And fuuuuuuck do I feel for Ikora’s weariness, especially because it mirrors my own weariness struggling against chronic mental illness. Made killing the Witness feel that much more personal and satisfying.

We've seen the Final Shaoe, a Universe frozen, cut out of time, no movement, no hope, no fear. A universe frozen at a point where all time ceases and all times in one spot. Anyone who has seen this would say no to the Witness. It's not a promise of perfection but a promise of Eternality.

I just wanted to address something I see pretty often and I’d hope you would cover, people often say that oryx communes with the winnower, however that isn’t the case, it’s made very clear with the final shape it was the witness, the hive wizard called the witness the deep, at the area you start dual destiny an intractable with a conversation between the witness and savathun where they discuss how the witness sent oryx here, in the grimore card king of shapes Auryx states this Now I may speak to the Deep, the beautiful final shape. I will be King of Shapes. I will learn all the secrets of our destiny, looking back this is very obviously the witness

My headcannon is that now that the Witness has been dealt with, a ghost will find Amanda's ashes, and she would then be resurrected as a guardian.

Playing through the final shape and listening to what the witness said, it was all tempting and convincing, and I can understand why some would fall for that. The witness makes empty promises so it could further its agenda.

I think they need to do a set of 3 weekly missions and each week it will move up one, so like 1-2-3 and those are the first missions of say the red war. Then after a week, it shifts to 2-3-4, then next week 3-4-5. That way ppl can experience all the history, do it via the sundial, and have it go thru curse of Osiris, then warmind, then the seasons when that first got introduced. Come on Bungie…

Part of me is surprised that no one fell to temptation. While each character had immediate and compelling reasons for rejecting the Witness, I wonder how much Cayde’s return bolstered their resistance even further. Cayde confirmed an afterlife for Guardians. It might not be an active one, but it’s a peaceful, blissful state that he could remember when he was brought back. Imagine if that didn’t exist. We would’ve faced the prospect of finality, a calcified universe, and that’s terrifying. But then the Witness would come, promising that we would be frozen in time, yeah, but we’d be frozen at the happiest moment in our lives. If we thought death was the end, that there’s nothing after it, then that would be the same outcome as the final shape. But only if death is the end. In other words, imagine a god comes along and tells you that you’re going to die, but it can decide when you’ll die and make it so that you’ll die happy and with all your wishes fulfilled. That’s appealing… unless you know that death is not the end, that there’s something good after it, and that what this god is offering would actually destroy what comes after death. Then you are more likely to reject it, because you can only experience that afterlife if you deny that god. Likewise, if you knew that the afterlife was unending torment, you’d be more likely to take the deal. Fighting to defend complexity and the possibilities of life and entropy is cool and all, but unless you’re completely selfless in the service of an esoteric concept, you probably want to be happy and avoid suffering. Again, the characters had plenty of other, simpler reasons to deny the Witness. But if I were one of them, it’d be nice to know that even after my final death, there’s something good and that’s worth fighting for.

Absolutely loving pretty much everything about the final shape but I'm definitely conflicted. I feel like I only feel this way because I've been playing since CoO. So much of the context for all of this is just not in the game anymore, so I don't know how the final shape would hit for someone who started playing the game today.

I really wish we got more from Ikora. As one of the three vanguard, I feel like she and Ophiuchus were completely sidelined compared to even Mara.

I wonder if Crow will ever hook up with Druis, that female awoken warlock he saved once, back when he was on a Spider's leash.

I always had the impression that where Ikora believes the Traveller helps us by giving us the powers and tools to face and overcome adversity, Zavala believes the Traveller will fight for us to overvome adversity. What we have seen is Ikora has it right. She knows, fully, the fight is ours while Zavala lost his Ghost based on a faulty understanding and belief in the Traveller.

If the darkness is memory and if one of the videos about the light making itself forget, then couldn't there be the theory that the winnower uses darkness to make the traveller remember the game?

I think I would be so crushed if Amanda is resurrected because it would legit break my boy. Crow has come a long way, grown a lot. Seeing Amanda with no memory of him would be so hard. So effing hard. I am not sure he would be able to cope with that loss. She won't be the same, it wont be his sunrise. 😭 i can't handle that particularly since bungie won't let me hug him. I find the memory of Uldren and Mara interesting. Byf, is that considered retcon? It always seemed like Mara never outwardly showed she cared about Uldren like that prior to her “death” in the Taken King. Or perhaps we viewed Mara’s like that through uldrens colored perspective of her?

Were I, myself, really the Guardian, I think I would have gotten very snarky with the Witness. I'd likely have said something to the effect of, "Really dude? You can look into people's memories enough to dangle their wants and wishes like a carrot on a stick, but you can't see or comprehend why your perspective and vision of the Final Shape is repulsive to those people?"

Of course this wouldn't happen, but... Imagine if we, the millions of guardians, were all tempted with something by the witness and we could actually choose it in those few days before its defeat. It could be something based on our playstyle, like for me a unique and badass-looking armor set with 4 spikes at 29, 10 god roll weapons, and a far more powerful transcendence. Those weak few who accepted would break the crucible for a few days, and would force opposing sides to come together just to fight the overpowered traitor, like a juggernaut mode. They could also be forced to fight on the witness' side during incision. Could try to fight against it but the witness would redirect your aim and pull your trigger for you (especially on PS5 adaptive triggers) Then when the witness was defeated, that character in the character select screen would appear finalised and unselectable. And for 'an amount' of time, the traitors would literally have one less save slot. As a kind of irl punishment.

I see the Witness offering Crow to bring back Amanda Holliday as doomed to failure. Crow might have been tempted momentarily, but he knew Amanda, the *real* Amanda, would never have forgiven him. Yes, the resurrected Amanda might have been twisted in some way to be everything he wanted, but he's grown so much as a character that it was still a doomed attempt.

The witness gambles with his garbage trying to persuade everyone, but yet still, he pursued to act the final shape. What good will that do us if he bring her back he brings about the final shape what good is it.. his foolish that is why it’s foolishness has brought his finality of ending.

The Witness lied so much to achieve it's ends, it could not tell when/where it was lying to itself, because it was. I wonder, now that it is sundered, what has happened to all those voices, those personalities, willing and unwilling that had been formerly 'conducted' into a single chorus? Will we learn something more of the Precursor People?

And of course, the Witness then desperately tried to tempt us to its side. But, surprise surprise, it didn't work.
