Could this be a reference to the anime Girls last tour? On one episode they help someone build an aircraft but it eventually crashes and one of this anime’s argument is about overcoming hopelessness

most likely its a dying dream planet that theyre trying to escape from. there are some theories out there that say its tied to the story of the album envy phantom, but i dont really believe it that much.

@Takamin thats what led me to think this, while the two look different mikages "friend" is according to a few theories a reflection of how she actually sees herself deep down, while the girl shes portrayed as in the video is the self she shows to the public. very interesting eitherway, it could be that mikages trying to accept the flaws she was aware of in third heart ( ˘ω˘ )

ikr.. it feels so different than harumaki's usual stuff yet so fresh and familiar at the same time. When i found out that this is a collab with Niru Kajitsu, I'm just delightfully surprised. Both of them are two of my fave producers and it's interesting to see the crossover between Niru's gritty, dark sound with Harumaki's more melancholic and sentimental one

Analysis: (Keep in mind that this is only a personal opinion and not based on official resources) The characters in this story resemble Mikage and tomodachi in Harumaki's previous song, so I theorize that this song is about a girl (Mikage) and her invisible companion (tomodachi), a personified version of Mikage's inner thoughts. I believe that this is a story about a girl trying to escape the chains of fate and reality, which includes the emphasis on material gain, thinking "sensibly" to fit in with society, being "responsible" to say or do things even if you don't mean them and the frustration from all of it. The MV therefore shows Mikage and tomodachi building an aircraft to "escape the rotten atmosphere of ozone", as a metaphor. Now to be a bit more specific with what I mean by "chains of fate and reality", I will explain some of the lyrics: (The Johari window I had to accept without a choice. The genetic inheritance I was given at random) According to wikipedia, the Johari window is a concept in psychology. The concept is presented in the form of a rectangle that is divided into 4 blocks (like a window):Block one is the part of ourselves that we and others see. Block two contains aspects that others see but we are unaware of. Block three is the private space we know but hide from others .Block four is the unconscious part of us that neither ourselves nor others see. Much like the beginning of "The Third Heart", the lyrics describe how we only show parts of ourselves to other people, much due to the pressure that other people won't like certain parts of ourselves. This leads to the frustration of living, but never truly knowing yourself, or being your true self, a lack of free will. The second line talks about how you don't get to choose who you are because you are stuck with the genetics you're born with, and that adds to the idea of being strained to a reality shaped by fate and not having free will. The lyrics in the second verse, where it talks about "having a failure as a son" and "refraining yourself from cutting ties with him", is trying to express how everyone is trapped in a Johari window. In this example, the adult is frustrated because he/she can't see the great qualities his son is aware or unaware of in himself, so he/she sees him as a failure, and is also frustrated because he/she can't express this frustration (to cut ties with him) since that isn't what he/she wants other people to know, since they want to keep the image of a good parent. (The disappearance of beauty stems from being too familier with the filthiness of life;) (A selfless love is as fragile as a sandcastle. Because "I would like to see your finances first") Something so beautifully pure as a selfless love is easily washed away by materialism. (Stealing from each other, giving to each other . Only to end up sick and ill. If you were to calculate it. You would seem shallow-minded. The abacus was crushed to bits) This is a different concept from the Johari window. It talks about how people are intertwined by the natural act of giving and stealing, and how if you were to calculate exactly how much people gave or stole from you, it would be unnatural and "shallow-minded". This act of bonding with others is also counted as a "strain" to reality. (That moment when the parts we collected were flying in the air. The words I thought of as I fell alone onto the pure, white ground. Things like those might as well be thrown into that shadow of mine) Here's another concept in psychology I'd like to explain: According to wikipedia, a "Shadow" is an unconscious aspect of the personality that the conscious ego does not identify in itself I believe that all the experiences of Mikage building the aircraft to escape "fate" or reality is a part of her unconsciousness, and "tomodachi", the girl with long hair, is a personified version of her shadow (even in the ending of the MV, it seems that Mikage has waken up from a dream). I also remember someone in the comment section of "The Third Heart" mentioned that t he name Mikage means "want to see the beautiful shadow". (That ending I saw in a dream. I'm afraid to say that it was inevitable, like fate. If that's the case, then let's become one) All the points I've brought up before falls into the word "fate". Fate is something inevitable, something you are intertwined with all throughout your life (you become one with it). You are fated to be frustrated, just because you are alive, and have other people around you. In the MV, Mikage is grabbed by a pair of hands and attached to a wire of some sort. This is probably a metaphor for being bounded and controlled by life. And I believe that's why the title of the song is called "fate" Now I'll explain some of the lyrics that I think are less conclusive: (I really hate this heart of mine, a heart that doesn't belong to anyone) Being detached from other people because you are unwilling to be "bounded" by them (Let's burn this boring, ordinary summary to ashes) I think the "summary" here refers to the summary of life. This line describes how Mikage is tired of and bored of living. (The "sensible way of thinking" occasionally feels empty. So why not start senselessly wasting your money?) Even though there's no true meaning to life, yet we feel the responsibility to act "sensibly" all the time. The stress and lack of free will eventually leads one to rebel against it.
