I was pretty conservative when I got into politics and every conversation I’ve ever had with conservatives where I was trying to understand stuff was them screaming at me telling how awful everyone is and democrats would calmly explain it to me and let me ask questions without screaming about how awful America is now. It makes me not wanna associate with conservatives because they’re so mean to anyone but them. A 60 year old man screamed at me when I didn’t understand watergate after he explained it and said my generation is screwed. I was so embarrassed and democrats will just explain stuff to me even if I don’t agree

Full transparency, I'm coming from a leftist, possibly biased view. I've experienced the same level of rage, mostly (IMO) because the conservative viewpoint is not always based in fact, but in feelings. It often comes off as if the rage is the secondary emotion, and/or the primary emotion is the fear of the unknown, and the fear of change. I've had some fantastic, deep, thought provoking conversations with conservatives when they bring facts to the table, and are willing to open their mind to seeing other points of view in order to refute and redirect.

That’s because conservatism isn’t a viewpoint it’s a way of life. It’s a rejection of change, so they can drag the corpse of their glory days around with them. And when someone tells their corpse stinks they lash out, because they’ve always carried that weight. They’re nose blind to it.
