shotgun kills in the crucible is waaay easier since matador with shot package is still king. The chaperone is pretty much a skill based weapon in crucible. headshot or two-shot as a shotgun, meaning when faced with felwinter's, if you miss a headshot you're dead because the range with shot package is pretty much the same IMO.

Hope this gets out there, Roadborn (the first precision kill perk) applies to ALL weapons, not just Chaperone. That may make this weapon more suitable/liked

This gun seems to work well to boost your primary weapon as you get the Roadburner perks from primary kills as well, as long as you have the Chaperon equipped .

I already have it maxed and infused it to 297 atk. It is a very powerful gun, aiming for the head isn't even a problem when its stability is already nearly maxed out, it also isn't meant for one enemy dps its a crowd control gun. As long as you spatter heads it rewards you with infinite ammo and a constant stream of dead bodies falling limp around you plus the road born perk can be activated with any gun as long as you kill with a headshot. I go with accurised ballistics and snapshot set up for my aggresive rush in rush out play style not to mention it doubles your dmg which is always a plus.

You are correct, the killing blow has to be with a shotgun shot, doesn't matter who does it, as long as someone kills them with a shotgun shot everyone will get the credit. I had to do the strike twice because we totally unloaded our shotguns into one of the bosses, but that boss was then killed by some non-shotgun crossfire.

I had a 1.2 kd in a match and I lost almost 20% of my progress. fuck this quest. I quit.

In PvP, it is a monster if you can hit Headshots or know of the Double Tap. I had one match and dropped a 40 bomb and that is sat on my channel. The "Double Tap" is where you press the trigger, release it, then press and hold. If done correctly, you will shoot 2 shots extremely quickly. It was abused to crap with the Thorn so you may have used it back then.

just confirmed this: you don't need to kill both brothers and complete the strike; if you manage to kill one and die, restart the fight kill the other one and just leave. dying doesn't reset progress on any killed brother

I love my Chaperon, it's the perfect shotgun for my play-style. Also, I was able to complete the shotgun portion of the quest in two crucible matches with my old Matador 64. It would have been one but the mercy rule ended the match early.

I can confirm that the killing blow needs to be from A shotgun. Since it's a special version of the strike, you can assume everyone doing it is on the quest. I got mine complete simply by shooting at them a few times with my shotgun and my teammates getting the KB with their shotgun. So it is shared among the FT.

For the shotgun part I got about 10% every kill in crucible and it didn't go down on death. Also you only have to do 1% damage with a shotgun to the shield bros and can kill them with other weapons. Also your whole fire team will get the quest complete on the strike if they do a bit of damage with shotgun, and one person finishes it off

I honestly think it's gonna be a beast in PVP for the skilled players who are gonna stay on top. The range is obnoxious as hell but I think it's the rate of fire in particular that's gonna make a difference. I've been crushing shotgunners in the Crucible today, but yeah, there's still competition if you miss your first shot against a Matator kinda shotgun, unless you manage to get a second shot. even from afar.

For the TLW bit, there have been reports that both kills AND deaths only count when you have it equipped. In other words, if you're an average Crucible player, you can use whatever primary you like, then when heavy spawns or your super is up, switch to TLW, get the kills (and hopefully streaks) and then switch back to something else.

in order to TRULY unlock the quest line you need to get the last word. It's a iron banner pistol that can be obtained using a three of coins. I tried several times and didn't get until two weeks later when I decided to use 10 three of coins and got an exotic primary wepon engram. Basically get lucky and try to get the last word.

ah ha! So that's where I saw Crota. He must be the Tier 3 fight this week. The first day I went to Court of Oryx and jumped down in the green junk without using a rune. Crota just appeared and I jumped back and my friend came and saw him too. After that I never could get him to come out again, so I guess it was a glitch or something. Awesome...but I was hoping for a Taken Crota this DLC

Looking back at it. I've taken the entire crucible route the entire time. And now I've gained some form of respect for shotguns.

Upgraded this to 310 i love it so much. Extremely fast and melts bosses in PVE, way better stat-wise than 4th horseman, it's great. Also, for the last word kills, just unequip the Last Word, then get ur super and equip it then. Then use ur super and it counts towards the last word kills. After u get ur super kills unequip it again so u don't lose progress. AAAND why do the ultras thing? i got all my shotgun kills in like 2 pvp matches

Honestly. If you need a ranged shotgun, go use an HoW shotgun which apparently can still be rerolled as the reroll system is not completly out of the game. otherwise, go with something like Universal remote which became more than a decent choice of weapon for it's type of gun.

I saw a Japanese player with that shotgun. Then my curiosity went wild. Then it turned me into an hidden Exotic hunter. Couldn't have done the last part without Datto.

I've been putting this Quest off for a really, really long time. And seeing how I really suck at Crucible, I can see why not to do it. But I really like whip cracking and lever action, so I think i've found a need to get this gun.

actually to start the quest is you need to get the last word and amanda will give it to you now granted you might need to get to rank 3 with the crucible, and finish the main storyline, but you wont get the quest until you get the last word

I found that the gunslinger subclass works best for the first part. Throwing and trip mines can do massive damage, especially with trip mine sticks.

Fkin finally I've completed the stupid first step! Notes: U will need more than 2 kills for every death to make any gain on progress & loosing seems to deduct a hefty 8-10%, so switch away your TLW when u know u'r about to loose the match. Killstreaks & multikills help gain a lot more percentage & also I recommend Mayhem modes for relying on superkills, preferably M. Clash since it has a higher chance of getting that 3% match win bonus vs something like rumble. The effective minimum K/D u have to obtain on each match on seems to be around 2.50 & that's when u have the win, I cannot imagine making any gains when u are loosing.

The killing blow doesn't need to be with a shotgun, you just need to be sure you shot each boss at least once with a shotgun

Basically what I did in crucibal was to have the last word equipped "obviously" and I played 6v6 and get sniper kills from long distance. PS. The best way not to die is to stay in back of your team mates. If there's ever more than one enemy RUN!

In pvp just spam the trigger twice. As long as you hit and you are relatively close you are good.

the should of just made the chaperone be exotic and have felwinters range stat with shot package, rifled barrel, and luck in the chamber i mean honestly a shotgun with those perks is better than any exotic shotgun we have now

When he says that you don't need actual kills with the last word but you need it equipped. I say that either they changed it or it's just me but I had to get kills with it so I had to do 9-10 rounds of control and standing waiting for people to pass so I wouldn't die but I could only use the last word the quest would not continue with any others being used

Having a shotgun equipped is enough in the shield brothers strike, you actually don't need to kill them with shotgun :)

I found a trick to dealing with valus tlu urn It’s really only for hunters Just kinda leapfrog over his head while he is still in the air that way you take the least damage If you have a character that floats you don’t really need to listen

you don't need to get the final hit with the shotgun just do some damage with any shotgun have it on your secondary slot and complete the strike, that's what happened to me anyway

for the shot gun part I found a void shotgun and got that part of the mission and the void part of the thorn bounty in a day

The first time I did this, the slam brother with wings died from one of the mortars and I did not get credit for it. I had a shotgun equipped as well. Not sure if it's because I didn't get the killing blow at all or whether it definitely has to be a shotgun. Just thought I'd mention that.
