I am convinced that Catarina isn't as dense as everyone thinks. A little dense, yes, and ditzy as all get out, but it's just that her priorities don't include romantic endeavors. She wants to: - live to old age - prepare in the event things come to worse - nerd out over literature - and eat sweets When it comes to those things, I would argue her mental acuity is above average (especially when compared to things that don't hold her attention). Ironically, her pursuit of the first point is why everyone's falling in love with her. She was trying to be their therapist and maybe become their friend, not their love interest, which is where the disconnect arises. That, and operating off of her meta knowledge of Fortune Lover, which causes her to think along the lines of Catarina being the villain, and thus unlovable. On another note: Catarina drove off the bullies, then proceeded to eat all of the sweets off the ground while Maria watched. There has to be some sort of urban legend going around the school instructing students and faculty not to drop their lunch for fear of summoning her.
