Because that's what you do in a submarine. You don't brace yourself against a bulkhead, you grab hold of a console, handhold, ladder, overhead, anything BUT bracing against a bulkhead.

This is old soviet submarine hunter - Pr 1134B "Berkut" (Kara class). All 7 now decomissioned and scrapped.

Владислав Волохов that’s what some authors use to help readers determine a Soviet ship from a NATO ship. But if there is only one Soviet ship being talked about, it is common to not use a prefix and just call it by name or class. Similarly, Russian Federation ships are similarly addressed in the same way except with RFS instead of USSRS. Edit: are all the Kara class cruisers scrapped? I thought the Kerch, of the Black Sea Fleet, was still being held in reserve status.

The ship they were up against is a modified Udaloy- class Destroyer, the 2 forward gun mounts which you would see on a Udaloy have been replaced with a CADS-N-1 CIWS in the forward most mount and the UDAV-1 anti-submarine system where the second gun mount would be.

I was head of electric team on the ship Udaloy-2 class, more then 2 years and also I was on submarine Typhoon clas pr.941... and I can tell you just one thing-nothing to do with real works ... just nice action... on the armament of this ship a lot systems and if BIOS fixed the target, 95% target will destroyed... Russian uniform incorrect

This is so unreal. In a real case, if a submarine suffers this level of attack, even one depth charger within 25-50 meters, it will be destroyed. But in this movie, the submarine was bombed by more than 10 depth charges which exploded within 10 meters … I hope the director had hired some professional submarine officers in the filming crew.

@allee6096 I said some. Topgun had some realism. Although flight of the Intruder did it better. War is 99% boring and one percent terror. There is a line. But some grounding in reality would make for better movies. Especially military ones. For instance, TopGun Maverick was based on the 1920s Israeli attack on the Iraqis nuclear power plant. A breeder reactor that would have e been able to produce plutonium for bombs. If someone were to actually make that movie, it would be awesome. Everything I TopGun Maverick was based in some way on something real. Other than thatMaverick would have probably have absolutely drilled the SU-57 with the gun when he did the 5th Gen yawning Cobra maneuver. I've heard Red Flag instructors talk about doing that to Su-30MKIs in F-15s when the Su would pull that shit. There were some training violations on screen, but that's nessasery for the movie. The technology used was 1990s tech. And flares don't do shit against radar guided Sam's. Oh, and those were SA-3s from the Cold War. But I can look past most of that. Using chaff would have been preferred. Or a mix of chaff and flares. Because they were right in the middle of the Manpad range. The clip for this movie is just totally divorced from realism. Also Hunt For The Red October was a great movie.

RBU is pretty short range relative to something like the RUM-139 (antisub missile) and is less accurate than an ASW torpedo, but i think the US could benefit from having ASW mortars with plenty of munitions to use like the RBU

When he said, they won't miss he did not mean they will exactly hit. The destroyer's shot was on point, in an anti sub warfare getting a bit would be extremely lucky and hard. As long as you fire at the general vicinity of the sub you will surely incapacitate or destroy it the shock wave from the blasts are enough to destroy a sub, so not missing here means the shots are Precise Not Accurate

Fun fact: Hunter Killer only had a Budget of $40mil, which is about $20mil less than the average modern-day action movie. Edit: This is why the CGI looks like a game, they also have to save money for the marketing too which is usually expensive.

The director has a really gard time with direction. The sub is either a few miles away? Right under the destroyer of out to the rear of the ship. Lol. That sub gets around.

Was a fun film. Not really all that realistic but... it was fun. The only thing I will cringe at is the part where water starts spurting in. Under those pressures, the second there is a structural weakness like that present in the hull, it will immediately collapse and sink. Also, the destroyer fired those rocket mortars a good distance away... and then caught up to them? We clearly the see the mortars detonating, and then a scene is shown where the destroyer is directly over the detonations lol. So either the rockets did a return trip, or that destroyer can go supersonic

If it was a enemy submarine that thing would have imploded a long time ago. But since its the americans/heros that submarine can withstand a nuclear bomb and a meteor impact at the same time with gum patching the holes. that goes for any hero movie.
