Videos about Groo the Wanderer from Mad Magazine Writer and Cartoonist Sergio Aragonés. Comic Book artist Mark Evanier, Stan Sakai (who makes Usagi Yojimbo comics) and Tom Luth who is the colorist of the comics. Marvel comics used to publish Groo the Wanderer under the Epic Comics brand for artist owned comics. Before that Pacific Comics and Eclipse Comics published Groo the Wanderer. After Marvel Comics, Groo went to Image Comics for a year and for the longest time, Groo is published by Dark Horse Comics. Rufferto is Groo's Dog, Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan of the Apes have had crossover comics with Groo too.

Great video, Darren. I love Destroyer Duck, even if Groo were not in it. Really fun read, including the Savage Dragon crossover where Steve Gerber (sorta) steals back Howard the Duck from Marvel. As for the blood/no blood thing, Sergio did a little gag in the Groo Grams of Image #11 regarding the change.

Destroyer Duck has always been an interest of mine just cause of the history behind it. Now that I'm a Groo Fan I definitely want to hunt down a copy. It's interesting how vastly different the colors and inks are between the three versions.

@@GrooTube what issue of starslayer has a Groo story in it. I almost grabbed a few on the shelf of my LCS, but couldn't remember what number had a Groo in it.

Great side by side comparison of the original Groo and the updated version. I of course much prefer the new version since that’s the Groo we’ve all come to know and love 😆

G'day, Darren. Very nice video as always! 😊👍 Regarding the so-called retroactive continuity ('retcon') at 3:35, have you seen Rick & Morty Series 6, Episode 7? - It's hilarious. (They even went to the effort of making a fake web page just for ultimate completeness of one of the minor gags. Absolute legends.) Back to Groo: It always bothered us that Groo's collar is now so tight that it's invisible. There's no way Groo would want an ultratight collar like that. The V-neck is waaaaay better! 🤩👍👍 Also, it seems so unnecessary to have redrawn Groo's nose and so on. It's not like he looks vastly different, right?* (*for example, compared to the striking evolution of Garfield's appearance, as you covered expertly in your very entertaining Garfield episode of Growing Up '80s). [- Speaking of which, we just listened to the (R&R🤣) detective episode and laughed out loud several times. So funny! 😂 (Sorry, mate - no hard feelings ,'ey? )]

Whoa! Sergio redrew Groo for the Groo Chronicles? ReGroo Drew? No, I had it right the first time. Not since "Han Shot First" has a ret-con rocked me so much. Why Sergio? Just do a flashback where Groo got plastic surgery to explain why his look changed so much. That would have been so much better. But, thank you Darren for letting me know about...what I can only hope future generations will call...GrooGate!

Destroyer Duck was kind of proto image. Steve Gerber was mad at Marvel over rights of his character. Howard an left Marvel an made this book as a protest.. irony Disney had a legal battle of vs Marvel bx Howard looked at Donald. DOUBLE IrOny. Disney owns Marvel An HoWard the Duck lol
