How to change the tyres on your Honda Cub (C90). Once changed, I almost crash offroading, partly destroying my top box. This video also acts as a review or first impression of the Kenda K262 dual sport tyre. I buy bread and biscuits. I sing a song by Steeleye Span.
I use they tyres on road and offroad. I attempt a top speed run. I drive through mud, puddles, gravel and leaves and the tyres cope well. They have far more grip offroad than the outgoing tyres.
I think they do well - what do you think?

fantastic if you're gonna ride on gravel/farm mud/ grassy fields/trails and sand in fact the difference in off road traction is night and day but it can be absolutely dangerous on tarmac especially if it's raining since it has way less contact patch as compared to regular road tires

Entertaining, useful and informative.👍 I run the same Kenda's on my '87 Cub and I find they stick like shit to a blanket when I'm thrashing the bitch around the Derbyshire Badlands. I did however lose my vape going over a speed bump at a local retail park so this seems to be a common flaw with them sadly. Ashley Hutchings lives in the same villiage as I and sometimes plays our Villiage Hall across the road. Although I do admire his work in Fairport Convention, he charges £15 a pop which is arena prices so he can stuff it. BTW....Looking forward to the Hob-Nob review.

No need to remove the chain or rear sprocket..leave it all attached to the swinging arm Remove the rear nut on the torsion arm, and the brake barrel nut You can get the rear wheel out. You need to scrub the tyres in for about 100 miles first

Wow, I'm phoning Honda first thing tomorrow, my 22 Super cub was delivered and some idiot forgot to put the inner tube in. By some amazing luck the tyre stayed inflated, narrowly avoiding a disaster. Do you recommend tyre warmers now we are getting into the colder weather ?
@EpohDerf
@EpohDerf Жыл бұрын
Nigel, if they forgot the inner tube I am afraid the bike is a write off. Just have to chalk that one up to experience. As for tyre warmers, taking large thermos flasks of boiling water is a good way to go about it. You could also take a blowtorch or smear the tyres in vaseline and light them to warm them through.
@nigelbaldwin752
@nigelbaldwin752 Жыл бұрын
@@EpohDerf Thanks for your expert advice Fred, I agree maybe the 100 point safety check the expert Honda technician carried out does not include tyre check as there are well over 100 bolts to check so tyres probably not that important. Will try the vaseline on the tyres tomorrow on my way into work with a top accident and injury law firm.
@EpohDerf
@EpohDerf Жыл бұрын
@@nigelbaldwin752 I think those checks just involve the technician choosing 100 things to check. 1) how does the horn sound? 45) can it do a burnout on a wet, polished concrete floor? 69) how much ham can be safely draped over the mirrors? it is probably that they simply didn't have enough checks to get to tyres...

Hiya, I've just fitted some Kenda 262's to my new to me 2006 Honda Innova. I'm finding the steering VERY light though and vague even in a straight line. I've done some basic checks and suspension/bearings etc all seems ok. I've currently put standard pressures in (29psi) and wondering if that's the issue. Can you remember what pressures you're running?
@EpohDerf
@EpohDerf Жыл бұрын
If you've come from ordinary road tyres, they do feel very different. Road tyres felt like you could 'flop' from side to side really easily, the kenda take a bit more.work and feel different at different angles of lean. They grip just fine for corners but are a bit crap with heavy brakes on damp roads. I suggest you start tearing around green lanes and then you'll be having so much fun, you'll forget the tyres feel odd..
@richardeaton1544
@richardeaton1544 Жыл бұрын
@@EpohDerf haha, the reason I fitted them is for green lane fun on an inappropriate project bike 😂 I've ridden on offroad tyres on other bikes and ridden scooters in the past so don't think it's just the tyres unless the pressures are massively out (I've put the standard 29psi in as a starting point). As I only rode a couple of miles before fitting the Kendas I'm even unsure if it's the bike but I have done the usual checks (steering play, bearings etc) and all seems ok.
@EpohDerf
@EpohDerf Жыл бұрын

@richardeaton1544 Жыл бұрын
@@EpohDerf cheers, much appreciated! Today I lowered the front to 25psi and kept the rear at 30psi and it seemed a bit better. It could of course just be me getting used to it 🤷‍♂😂 I only just bought this bike which the previous owner fitted all new suspension/brakes etc a few months ago. Everything seems well done and mechanically sound. It could just be me as I'm used to a much bigger bike normally (Africa Twin AS) but the steering just feels too light...

It is likely a comedy of errors on my part. 1) bike not designed for the Evil Kenevil lifestyle 2) entry level top box (branded pacemaker of all things) 3) winding up the preload of the rear shocks to 'maximum stunt' setting and 4) the potholes being of the double black diamond variety. Stay safe out there.

@@EpohDerf I run a few lifan 110's and a 140, the 110 is a dead easy swap for your bike if you order it with the honda style clutch cover (or fit the one off your honda one (but use the adjuster mechanism from the lifan case) aswell as making sure it has the split phase generator. everything will be plug and play, cub exhaust, airbox and carb/jetting, manifold etc. Change the gearing to 16/36 and it makes that extra 4th gear into a great economy overdrive for long runs. The 140cc is a little more involved and requires a bigger carb/different position, foam filter, bigger bore exhaust.
