Steelchaos 2019 fest offered some nice German thrash metal with legendary bands like Destruction and Sodom. In this interview Jerry talks with SCHMIER of Destruction at Tennis Gala 2019, or something in this direction. Let's thrash!

Schmier seems like the ideal interviewee as far as extreme metal legends go... very well-spoken, easy going, and great sense of humor. Glad you were able to grab him for such a long talk, thanks for sharing Rauta! \m/

Dear Rauta, Thanks for the well guided interview with one of my youth legends. I am an almost as old fart as Schmierli is and thus a livelong thrash enthusiast, and i always appreciate an honest and well done interwie which gives good insight of he opposite character. Many interviewer use interwiews with famius persons somehow as a platform to promote themslves, but this one was was done very well. No interuptions, no standardized questions... simple: thanks

Great interview! As Schmier says at the end, it's not the same typical stupid questions and that's what most of us are looking for. We don't want to hear the same and same, it's more like a talk you have at home with your friends and not a robot asking and a robot answering. Great job, man.

I love every single Teutonic Thrash metal band I have heard so far. As for American Thrash, I used to be a fan of it back when I was a young dude, but frankly, it's not on par in terms of the sound production, riffs and overall coolness. They are much more a result of luck and exposure to the American public (which made it so popular). Sodom, Kreator, Tankard and Destruction rule! And so do Assassin and Protector. Check them out if you haven't heard these bands.

Always respected Destruction but their only album I've ever really enjoyed was the Sentence of Death EP, which I love. After that I just felt they weren't as good as Kreator or Sodom. I loved their aggression, but they just didn't write as memorable songs as Sodom or Kreator.

@rauta Wow, after such a great interview the interviewer agrees to a comment which is negative towards Destruction. So much for professional journalist-objectivism. Thumbs down
@RautaMetal
@RautaMetal 4 жыл бұрын
@@ebabnikufesin What? How come you started to think I'm professional? I am not. And how come journalist's are not allowed to comment on band's music? Thumbs up or down, I don't care, but to me it sounds kinda silly if I couldn't say that I like Sodom more than Destruction. This comment has absolutely nothing to do with the respect I have for the band or SCHMIER. So, please read again to understand my point.
@Gregbaltzer

@@ebabnikufesin I owned almost every Destruction album, up to Day of Reckoning, but I sold them all because every album had a sameness to them, and the only song that ever came across as memorable was Nailed to the Cross. Every time I listened an album, I'd get bored after about 5-6 songs in because nothing stood out and it all felt the same. Great musicians, just not great song writers.

If people would watch Some kind of monster, they would quickly realize that Metallica has a lot of anger issues still. This doc is or at least was available on Netflix with the added content about 10 years later. Shows that even money and fame don’t make a band automatically happy.
