What a testimony, your such a inspiration to so many detailers! Just goes to show you that you can do it even when you don't have all the information and equipment! "Fake it till you make it!" I know exactly what you mean! Thanks for all the great information and all of your incredible KZfaq videos Darren!

I love detailing a car. It's now a part-time "business" for me. But more than for the money, I do it because I love doing it. I love taking a rough car and turning it back into a gem (well, once it's rough, getting it back to 100% is often not practical). I love the reaction of most owners when they see what I was able to do. When I first start on a rough car I think "why in the world did I agree to do this" but when it's finished, I know why. Like you, I love being outside and, hopefully within reason, working on my tan. I relax the most, when I detail. It's hard work, but it still relaxes me. And when I'm finished, I love being worn out but satisfied with the result. I think having passion for doing a job right, no matter what job, makes a job rewarding. Maybe we should call it Detail Passion (although I still like your company's name - Detail Fetish). Again, enjoyed your video. Yes, you may stretch it out some, but it shows your passion. Thanks!

+David Roddick I think you are like many of us detailers David. There is great satisfaction in what we are able to do to a car despite how much physical work is involved. But that kind of hard work is very rewarding and actually uplifting in a very counter-intuitive way. And yes, I do know how to "stretch" don't I?

+Auto Fetish Detail I'm the same way. I'll get into a total nightmare and start questioning every decision I've ever made in life and then hate my life but then I start and it becomes a mission to make it the best turn around ever

+Auto Fetish Detail... Yo bitches... Really Darren stick to Detailing... Happy birthday Josh Miller from Tomato Industries Mobile Car Detailing Byron Bay. Hey Darren thanks for the vids and tips. I also checked your website and its given me food for thought regarding my own advertising. I am now also using your famous "not all dirt is created equal" quote when negotiating with customers. The tip about using super degreaser on oily /greasy carpets and mats worked well whilst I was shampoo / extracting a farm truck the other day. I also used an eraser pad to remove glue after removing numerous stickers from rear windows. Really appreciate your tips as they have helped me become more proficient and less anxious when faced with tasks for the first time. God bless and stay safe.

Fun video as it brought back a few memories. Got my "start" in much the same way (though I never did detailing full time). Got my first wash jobs (not really detail) back in the '80s delivering pizza to higher end folks who needed their car washed. So, on Saturdays and some nights during the summers, I did. But I think I only got $15-20 a car, but that was without wax until spray wax came out. Later I did add wax services. Fun times!

I want to remove all the old sealant on my car and apply a fresh coat. How would you go about doing that darren? I use Klasse sealant glaze. Plus how do you tell if sealant is still left on a car anyway, a well washed car beads water was well. Thanks.

Darren, you said you don't like to work on crap, but what if a customer calls you and wants you to personally come detail their 1992 Honda Civic which is dirty and nasty, but they want you to clean it as if it were a Bugatti (ie to the highest standards)? Are you gonna come out and do everything you can to make it a 10? Or are you gonna tell them no thanks?

+3LIT3PS3ER That is in the works. But with that said, I did create a page that has my list of "Must Read" book choices. One of the books is where I really learned how to not only transform my body, but also teaches a much more simplified way of health and fitness that is sustainable for the long term. I have been following the advice of this book for over 14 years and still have that body today. www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/auto-car-detailing-business.html

@autofetishdetail

+Poon Poon Smith I never did her car again and really didn't think I would. She was also a college student on a tight budget. I certainly feel I did a great job relative to what I charged her. She was certainly happy when she came out to inspect and pay me.
