These are the lessons that I've learned with microfiber towels: 1) waffle weave towels are a must for windows and drying 2) the 36 pack of Kirkland/Member's Mark from Costco/Sam's works GREAT for interiors, wheels, door jambs, engines, and any other messy job (it's $16 for 36 good quality towels), and 3) don't skimp on towels that touch the paint (drying, waterless wash, detail spray, polish/wax removal).

Great tips! Although I'd argue that those Costoco towels will also do a great job on paint work (depending on the clear coat, of course).

Totally agree with you great video man My setup: 20 pack of cheap microfibres for removing contamination like tar/iron etc, drying wheels, cleaning wheel arches, engine bays cleaning/drying and cleaning really grubby interior bits like rubber mats etc) 10 pack of rag company (or any other quality brand) 365gsm terry microfibres - great for cleaning all interior surfaces, applying quick detailers and waxes and removing really stubborn polish/wax residues 4 rag company eagle edgeless 500gsm - amazing towels, so nice to use, i use them for removing wax/polish etc, removing excess cleaner on leather seats, drying touch ups (like under mirrors and maybe door jams if they have been cleaned throughly) I use a chenille wash mitt to wash car and a meguiars drying towel to dry Overall i dont think you really need the eagle edgeless but they are really nice to use. But you need a drying towel if you dont wanna spend ages drying your car and/or get water spots

I was just wondering if it might be a good product to use in the wheel cleaning part of a detail as it's said to significantly decrease the amount of scrubbing necessary when cleaning rims. From what I've seen from other detailing channels - such as auto fetish - all that's necessary with the wheel brightener is to spray on and simply rinse off and you're done. Scrubbing from time to time can't be avoided of course, but it looks to be a big time saver when detailing cars. I figured it might be something you use as well since you're a mobile detailer and was hoping for a potential review of the product 😄

@DetailGroove 7 жыл бұрын
Ohhh, I see. Hmm, well no, I probably won't be using that anytime soon. If I had some really bad wheels, I would go with Meguiars Super Degreaser at 4:1. That is a pretty hard kicker as well

Well after you get a lot of cars under your belt, you'll start to see which cars have softer paint than others. But there's definitely no definitive method to know what paint is soft/hard until you work on it

I am starting to get frustrated because im polishing an removing defect 90 percent or better, but when im wiping the compound off with distilled water and a polish microfiber towl im adding scratches.. seems like im chasing my tail. Its a black 06 honda crv.. My question is for everyone is how many microfiber towels do you use per area/section/panel. I'm just trying to get an idea on when a rag is used up while compounding an waxing.I belive I might have to buy alot more towels in the future. Thanks

Are you sure it's the towels? It could be you're not actually removing 90% of the imperfections. Are you checking your work with a flashlight or sun?

Yes, about a week now, practiced on my in-laws vehicles. Started to keep my car clean for Lyft & Uber & now I do this more than that. I have 3 more customers lined up after our memaw tomorrow. Very happy & this area has a lot of customers that aren't being serviced by anyone so my growth potential is pretty huge. I'm going as simple as possible like you. I mainly just use a wet/dry vac, towels, apc, and a couple brushes.

Hey Oscar, great video as usual bro. I use cheap micro fibres mainly for interior but have also removed polish and wax with them aswell. I do have better quality mf towels aswell but I try and use the cheaper ones where I can get away with it. Can you offer any tips for washing a car in the sun ? I live in Spain and at this time of year its 30 - 35°c daily.... In July/August its often 40°c and occassionally can hit 45°c. I try and do it in the shade at the customers house if they have it but sometimes its not possible. I try and start work around 8am and take the afternoon off and then do another around 18:30 but that time in the evening can still be very hot. Even at 8am it can be 25°c. Im from the UK originally and detailing was easy for me over there because the weather temperature is so much cooler and I didnt really experience streaking etc over there. could you offer any tips or even better do a video ?

I can feel your pain. The heat takes a biiiggg toll during detailing. What specific problems are you having? It is fatigue on your end? Or water spots/streaks being left behind? What's your current wash process?
@manc7808
@manc7808 7 жыл бұрын
Detail Groove I start off and do the wheels with my wheel cleaner, And then rinse. Next up a pre wash (Usually a snow foam) rinse and then onto a two bucket wash method.... Its the wash I have problems because in the sun the car starts to dry and I get streaking and water spots. I try and keep the car wet with my pressure washer, But it ends up like juggling because Im rushing and trying to keep the car wet and also trying to wash with my wash mit. Its also a pain when drying because Im drying one section snd the sun is drying another before I get to it.... So I get streaking.
@DetailGroove
@DetailGroove 7 жыл бұрын
Yeahhhhh, I had that exact same problem. I would eliminate the foam wash.. You I would also go with a rinseless wash. I would wash a section of the car (half the roof), then dry it. Then move to the other side of the roof, wash that side, then dry it. Then I'd wash the entire rear quarter panel of the car, then I'd dry it off. That would be my solution to that. Foaming it down, two bucket wash method with soapy solution, spraying it down with the pressure washer as you go, trying to drive off the entire vehicle.. That's a lot of headaches when you're up against the sun and time

Hey Oscar, the whole issue I had with micro-marring was on a 2015 Honda. In your experience detailing, do Hondas have soft paint/clear coat? Becuase I think that's why I have the micro-marring; it has soft clear coat so you really can't avoid micro-marring. Thoughts?

Jordan F Honda do have soft paint. Some Honda models have softer paint than others but are in general known for having soft paint. Can be a little bit of a pain but makes correction a little faster if you're careful.

Harrison Warholic yeah buddy; same here. I have an issue with stone chips though. I don't follow people closely but I get them from people zooming past me and they kick stones up and my car is a magnet for them. I've learned to deal with them cause it's the sad part of car ownership but still bothers me! And I still find the furthest away parking spot possible far,far away from people who would be tempted to park near me.
