He's fantastic too in the excellent italian series "Imma Tataranni". We are at last watching the second series in France after waiting for ages. If you love Montalbano, you'll love that series too.

No gripes. If there was nothing else on TV, would watch Montalbano all night every night. Amazing writing.

Fabulous to see Cesare Bocci speaking in English after being so used to hearing him as Mimi in Italian! Montalbano is brilliant, he is right, the rapport between the characters makes it highly watchable and there are many subtleties that make it great fun to watch. Sicily looks beautiful!

I think its very strong of him doing the interview in english because the series has had a very great succes outside Italy. He may not be exactly fluent but he is doing very well most italian actors who dont work outside the country would not usually do that.

Cesare is not Sicilian (he was born in Camerino) but he's very convincing in the part - so much so he says that when Sicilians meet him they think he is from Catania! Indeed his English is excellent as well. In addition to his film and TV work (he played Malerba in the first episode of Inspector Coliandro) he has an extensive stage background and is currently starring in La Cage Aux Folles in Rome.

Cesare Bocci is terrific as Mimi, but I'd love to know more about him. Is he Sicilian? What other acting does he do? Films? TV? Stage? And how does he speak such good English?
