Being someone who used to work at an Amazon warehouse, I'm honestly not surprised. Our facility cracked down on a small group who were in the packing section for taking iPhones and shipping empty boxes. They were caught pretty quick. Uncle Bezos doesn't mess around
@whypothetical7 ай бұрын
Damn. I support them stealing iPhones way more than I support Bezos exploiting people, though. If Bezos is going to force people to die working through a tornado hitting a warehouse, he deserves to have some iPhones stolen. @@haloimplant7678 the company is justified in calling the police if the employee doesn’t want to leave. It’s better to call the police because you wouldn’t want to get into a fight or something like that. All I’m saying is that if she left when she was told to she’d probably only be suspended for a few days. I worked in a restaurant, where a particular person would come and drunk sometimes. That person was going through some severe personal mental problems. He lost his mother, which was the only living family member left. Any drowned himself in alcohol almost every day. We just sent him home and never had a problem. If he refused, then the police probably would’ve been involved. Because it’s a severe endangerment if we continue to let them work. For himself, and other people around. I’m not saying it’s acceptable, but it’s understandable. This woman should’ve just shut her mouth did what she was told and she would still probably be working there today.

I feel for the owner of the shop gathering information on one of your own employees is hard. I worked as an office manager and had to do the same and fire the person over $500. It's sad because if she would've just advised us that she needed some money, I probably would've just given it to her because she was a lovely lady who was doing well at the job but she was a thief and a coward to boot.

Worked at a truck stop shop for a few years. Had all kinds of characters come through working there, the best being Ernie. He was a drug addict that worked to sustain his habit. This worked until some tools walked out with him to the pawn shop one day and the boss man caught it all on the surveillance cameras. They made this man work his entire next shift then called him to the office with about 20 minutes left. He was met with 2 officers and some managers. They proceeded to fire him, arrest him, and pat him down finding in this order: about 2g weed, 1 dirty spoon, 1 small baggie of the fun stuff (keep in mind this whole time he’s sweaty and covered in oil and grease form working his whole shift). He was already getting arrested for stealing the tools but everything else was just the icing on the cake.

Yeah, he probably feels bad about getting caught, losing his job, and getting charges laid against him, but how do you expect him to feel bad for Amazon? Legally he was in the wrong, but morally? Amazon steal millions from their own employees and global tax payers every day.

It’s crazy how people think stealing small amounts doesn’t add up over time. Especially when you steal from the same person every time. One of my aunts used to work at a bank and stole small amounts so she could feed her 8 kids, and added up over time she stole over $100k. That was back in the 80s as well.

A woman I worked with stole more than that from our workplace and got probation. She had stolen from the last 3 places she worked but since her family paid back the money the businesses decided not to prosecute so couldn’t tell future employers about the theft. My boss prosecuted so she could report the theft to future employers. We figured she stole at least $100,000 but could only prove about $50,000.

We recently had a similar situation with a female employee at our family business. She stole thousands from us in fake hours on her time sheets and we even lost several high paying clients because she just wasn’t going at all or she was going and only doing 10% of the work.. but still writing down the amount of time she was supposed to be there. We knew she was facing some legal issues when we hired her but we were so desperate for help.. my mom decided to give her a chance and believed her lies.. well.. when mom started getting suspicious about things.. she started investigating her past jobs and found out she had stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from her past employers and even completely destroyed one of their offices and owed them $1.7M in restitution.. she has a wrap sheet a mile long going back two decades for theft, fraud and drugs.. but she’s never once actually gotten a prison sentence. We just wrote a letter to the local DA informing them of her history and lack of real punishment and that we wouldn’t stand for her getting off easy again. I have little hope that it will have any effect though.. seeing as we live in a very liberal area.. unfortunately.
