Gamera vs. Jigur is like if John Carpenter made a family film.

I had a script written for my OMM, but I had work to do so I couldn’t get to recording and editing. I’m so disappointed I missed this.

After watching this, I love Gamera even more now. I wish I could’ve participated but I had a lot on my plate. But I am absolutely planning on watching Gamera Rebirth on day one

The Showa Gamera movies aren't perfect, but there are some good qualities in them.

While i've always preferred Godzilla, Gamera has always had a dear spot in my heart. While Godzilla has been many things, Gamera has always been a hero. Especially being a kid when I first saw him, Gamera always seemed like he could be your friend. The violence was cool for a young kid. But it always showed the hero could get hurt too, raising tension. Gamera would always come to save everyone and would never give up no matter how bad things got. Even the translated lyrics of Gamera III's ending are clearly about him. I do want to see a fight between Godzilla and Gamera. Even more so than with Kong. And, more than anything, like in Godzilla vs Kong, I would like to see them become friends. Maybe not as close as with Anguirus, but maybe like Batman and Superman. I could even see Gamera try to help Godzilla get over his past. Thats just the type of friend he is.

Alright this'll be good. Gamera has a lot of good moments to pull from. Thumbnail looks like Showa, specifically late Showa if the dead look in Gamera's eyes are anything to go by. Most disturbing film... Guiron traumatized a lot of children, Viras and Jiger inflicted some of Gamera's worst wounds, Zigra I've forgotten everything about but Super Monster is all around the one that disturbed the franchise and genre the most. I shall see which it is tomorrow

Yeah!! Showa Gamera respect! Yeah, that was a great moment, very emblematic of the creativity of these movies. This scene would just not work if he weren't a turtle, and it's framed with such gravitas. Gamera gets speared through the plastron by Viras a few films before, but it's treated almost as an afterthought in that film, for a variety of reasons. Very good selection, Omni Gamera vs Jiger has a lot of good creative moments. I love how the first thing Jiger does, upon emerging after however long she was trapped, is get a large drink of water. The combat was also something special. Jiger uses whatever of her weaponry works, and when it stops working, she stops using that particular attack

Never looked at this film that way I wonder if there’s new Gamera series will live up to this body horror.

Well done. One of my favorite Gamera films despite it's flaws which they all have and that's the charm in the series overall.

Gamera vs Jiger or Journey to the center of the turtle! Great video dude!

As a kid this one was my third favorite of the Gamera series, behind Baragon and the black and white original film. I liked the fact that no aliens were involved (which were becoming way overdone in kaiju films at the time) and that Jiger, like Baragon, looked more like a dinosaur than other creatures Gamera battled. As to Gamera’s appeal…to me there was something unique about the way he looked. I find it hard to put into words. Modern CGI can be great, but in kaiju films I sometimes feel the monster effects have a vague quality, like you can’t always bring the moving creatures into sharp detailed focus. The Gamera costume was very detailed and filmed in a way that is sharply focused. It didn’t look real (as in like a convincing living animal) but it looked ACTUAL, in a way a CGI kaiju sometimes does not. For instance, when he pulls in his legs and fires up the jets to fly. Damn! It doesn’t look real as in anatomically possible, but it sure as hell is a real flamethrower being used for the effect! Very dramatic and real in the sense it is a real blast of fire, unlike Gojira’s animated breath. There is something very tactile about SPFX sequences in the Gamera films of the 60s.

Gamera's healing factor must be on a par with, if not even greater than, Godzilla's. And by"those other turtles", did you mean that teenage mutant ninja quartet, by any chance?

The 2023 tic tok zombies blessing mankind & the arts in general ,like original Showa fans could have never dreamed of? lmao Im about sick & tired of so called kaiju fans taking a dump on the Showa era of Gamera & Godzilla films. Showa era Gamera deserves extra respect imo, seeing the new Netfliks series is based on Showa era foes, not Legion or wtf ever happened in the Heisei timeline. js
