15 жыл бұрынA thrilling, breathtaking drop ride, Detonator opened at Thorpe Park in 2001. It was manufactured by the Fabbri Group, a specialist Italian manufacturer of rollercoasters and thrill rides.
Detonator stands 115ft (35 metres) tall, and takes 12 riders to the summit before plummeting to the bottom in a staggering three seconds. Detonator gives the sensation of free-falling through the air with riders legs dangling beneath, and being launched down by pneumatics gives the same airtime to a freefalling tower twice as tall!
With a massive G-force of 5.5g and a top speed of 47mph, it may not be the highest tower ride, but it certainly packs a punch that few others can match...

it doesn't look that high, but trust me when i went up on it, and before you know it your seeing above all the buildings, it is really high up, then you you drop and come out of your seat lol

That "feeling" is called "G-Force" humans don't adapt to it however you can help that feeling - fighter pilots endure high g-force were talking 5x what you would feel on a rollarcoaster, G-Force makes you feel heavier than you are, +G's which is what you feel on a rollercoaster, sucks the blood from your brain hence you feel breathless, to prevent "g-LOC" (Passing out / blacking out) / to help endure high amounts of g-force things such as screaming helps take your mind of it, also to prevent passing out & to endure more g's as a fighter pilot you are taught "AGSM" (anti-g straining maneuvers) which is basically just squeezing your butt cheeks and tensing your thighs / legs, this is to control blood movement and stop it all from leaving your brain. You either have a low or high tolerance for G's by the sounds of it your on the low side, it's kinda like mar-mite either hate it or love it :).

i went on this yesterday. It definitely didn;t keep us up there that long. It counted 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. then dropeed us. I literally didn't have time to think. Plus i'm scared of heights! And i still went on it. #MAJOR achievement

When I went on with my bestie it went up and you can see EVREYTHING! And then it drops down and wind blows in your face my bestie was scared but I wasn't I recommend you go on it!

I went on to Thorpe park today with my school and went on this first! I was really scared on the way down, i felt like i was free-falling!

The reason it looks high because it's the 3rd tallest ride in Thorpe park making the other roller coasters (except from Stealth and Swarm) short.

This was my first drop tower and um it was okay but it goes so fast I couldn’t even hear myself scream 😭😭

It's pretty easy to know when your going 2 drop, just be quiet and listen carefully, when you hear a releasing (hissing) noise, scream and hold on cos it will drop
