This was fantastic. I absolutely loved the commentary. I'm definitely subscribing. Looking forward to going through your other videos. I spent some time in Detroit back in the early 00s. It definitely had it's issues (as everybody knows) but the city has some good bones. Detroit is set in a naturally beautiful area as well. I'm rooting for the city to bounce back.

I would agree, but traditionally high rises were built to serve as offices for white collared jobs. However, high rise vacancy has gone up since the post pandemic. So it might be hard to justify building skyscrapers in the future throughout the country.

Honestly, for most visitors to Detroit, it's the city's pre WWI skyscrapers and high rises that usually attract attention. They are generally considered among the finest in the country. Unfortunately, the 1956 termination of the extensive street car system (up to 528 miles of track!) limited navigation to auto only, thus creating the need for more and more parking lots. Today where you see parking lots there once stood beautifully designed structures which created street/block integrity. Also, the creation of endless, knotted expressways caused more demolition of buildings, streets, neighborhoods.

@@AirWorthyToursnot in Nashville. They can’t build high rises fast enough there. It’s booming at a ridiculous rate.

@@timothys3119They are having to offer 25% off rent now in Nashville. It's now cheaper to rent in Nashville than to buy, property values are set to fall there.

There is the new Hudson's building come up. That will be second biggest in Detroit and Michigan. Also, there is the new Huntington Bank HQ. That came up just a couple of years ago. It's behind the view of the downtown from the river.
