Join us for another installment of our farmhouse renovation journey as Clare and Robin press forward with the kitchen DIY build, determined to overcome obstacles and see their vision come to life. With each nail hammered and each board secured, they inch closer to transforming their kitchen into a functional and beautiful space for their family.
But outside, in the garden, a new challenge awaits. Clare and Robin take on the task of installing an irrigation system to ensure their garden flourishes with lush greenery and vibrant blooms. However, their excitement is dampened when they return home to discover the devestation of the tree removal, facing the stark reality of the empty landscape left behind.
Despite the setbacks, Clare and Robin remain resilient, finding solace in the progress they've made and the potential for new growth. Join us as we navigate the highs and lows of homestead life, finding strength in each other and in the shared dream of building a home filled with love and laughter.

For the gap between cabinets and ceiling, you could use crown molding to clean/dress it up.

If you climbed all the trees , you could use a chipper to make mulch. The bigger logs could be turned into lumber if someone had a small or obviously furewood.

to get some of the hedgy feeling and some of the wind break back, without getting in the way of the electrisity line, i would plant berrybushes between the stumps (and leave the stumps, as they deteriorate they will provide nutriance to the surrounding area) :) take your time, you'll get better results not stressing to the finish line and evaluating along the way :)

I agree with other comments don't get disheartened about those negative comments your doing a fab job and it's really coming along now, you are doing the right thing with getting the kitchen and children's bedrooms done as they are the most important once all the plasterboard is done it will be quicker, and the garden will give you plenty of food you both work hard and it will be so worth it. ❤

This was another great video filled with loads from a polly tunnel, to plastering, irrigation and felled trees to deal with. Given we see just a small part of your week no one has a right to criticise anything you do. Constructive criticism is often good value, criticism for criticism sake is nothing but destructive. Forgotten to say across the last videos that the drone shots are just gorgeous. Thanks, Pauline, Australia

You've had a sinus problem for a while now, and I think I know what the problem might be. As someone who has had to deal with severe mold toxicity from exposure 13 years ago ( it doesn't just go away when you've been poisoned ) , chronic sinusitis is one of the many issues. You have been working around mold since you bought the farm. It's not something to take lightly, and sinus issues can affect your eyes, puffiness, and even eye buldge with pain. It can even cause tooth damage as your sinus cavity sits on top of the tooth. You can even lose your tooth due to damaging the root with infection. It can be extremely painful. Please take the mold seriously. It can affect your health for years to come or even the rest of your life. Hope you feel better soon.
@WestCorkWander
@WestCorkWander Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for all of your advice. Robs tooth has been an on going issue over a few years and I think the sinus issues started from this too. Now you could well be right about the mould, as we have experienced alot of mould through drying out the house. Thank you for commenting 😊

Your projects are so interesting to me. I am patiently awaiting any next steps. Love the poly tunnel , ibc water tank etc. I have a polycarbonate greenhouse and I am trying to figure out how to gutter it. Maybe what you do will give me ideas. We had to take down trees threatening our house. It was traumatic but so needed. I appreciate it every day. You go at your own pace. I am not critical at all.

I have soaker hoses and I just lay on top of the soil. You don’t have to bury them unless you have a water saving issue. I use the pegs to secure the hose.

Yay, 🎉I got the reference this time…inspector gadget! I don’t normally get them 😂 Wow, that’s some amount of firewood you have there, but what a view you have across there now! So open and light. It’s your house and your project so you do as you please with what order you do your house in. Don’t worry about what others think is the ‘right’ way to do things, it’s all up to you. The polytunnel is looking good, I like the string idea for the tomatoes 🍅 it’s like a little sanctuary in there away from the madness of renovations. ❤

I’d hire a chipper and make a supply of wood chips from the smaller branches that you don’t use for the dead hedges . Everything inside the house is coming along nicely now well done 😊

Along the Rock wall in ur kitchen u could build a box around it and put whatever flooring u use on it just a though.. I've noticed in Chateaus and old homes when it comes to pipes and wiring they build a box around it so I think u could do that at the bottom of your wall next to the floor 😊

Can I ask you a question, why do you put cardboard down? I live in the US and I've never heard of putting down cardboard when gardening. Here we just use a roto tiller, get the earth nice and tilled, then till in compost. Then just put in your plants.
@WestCorkWander
@WestCorkWander Ай бұрын
I am following a no dig method. My mentor for this is Charles Dowding, an English gardener - www.charlesdowding.co.uk/resources/beginners-guide Here cardboard is used to suppress the weeds prior to planting. No dig then is as it refers to a method of gardening without digging. Thanks for commenting 🙂

So many trees down! What a waste!😢
@WestCorkWander
@WestCorkWander Ай бұрын
We try not to think of it as waste. We will try to use as much as we can within the house build. We still have all of our inside window sills and surrounds to make and Rob is hoping to get a table out of one. Anything left will be used as fuel for our little stove. We feel positive having already planted 500 + native trees on our land. Laylandii are not native to Ireland and in most cases this inevitably happens when they get to big.
