In this episode, Matt speaks with Psychotherapist, Nyle Biondi, about anger and how important it is to connect with and release anger from our mind and body. Anger can serve a great purpose if we consciously work with it. It can help us step into our power, and be a messenger of unmet needs or crossed boundaries. Many of us have social conditioning that tells us anger is inappropriate, or perhaps you were even shamed for being angry. Connecting with your anger in a healthy way might just be what's missing from your healing journey.
The concepts and questions we explore in this episode are:
1. Anger 101
a. Other words to identify anger
b. The difference between anger and rage
c. Ways unprocessed anger shows up
d. Your relationship with anger
e. How to identify it?
f. Implosive vs explosive anger
g. Why do we repress anger?
h. Why anger is helpful and why we need it
2. The connection between anger and other emotions - primary and secondary feelings
3. The challenges of exploring anger
4. The benefits of exploring anger
5. How to connect and activate anger in a healthy way
6. How to release anger from the body
a. Inner child work - letting your inner child have the temper tantrum it didn't get to have
7. How to soothe your nervous system after feeling anger
a. Soothing is like reparenting
3 steps to processing anger:
1. Connect and activate
a. Past traumas
b. Daily stressors
c. Personality traits
2. Release
a. Primal screaming into a pillow
b. Punching pillows
c. Slamming pillows on your bed
d. Chopping wood
e. Batting cages
f. Demo rooms
3. Soothe
a. Deep, slow, and long belly breathing - in through the nose and out slow through the mouth
b. Hold your hand on your heart
c. Listen to a guided meditation.
d. Focus on positive sensations in your body
e. Listen to your favourite song
f. Smell something nice
g. Talk to a friend

Lol until recently I was going round telling people how I don’t really experience anger and I find it really difficult to access it, and people describe me as laidback. This was very relatable and useful, thanks!
