Sweet! I’ve used my LabBox and Cinestill Df96 to develop black and white film but have been reluctant to use the LabBox to develop color film. You’ve made it look super easy and given me the confidence to give it a shot. Thanks! 🤙🏼

Not worth the hassle. Go the tempering box, sousvide and your choice of tank (I'm a Jobo fan) which you can roll in the box.

Great video. Ironically, I just purchased a 5 roll Rollei film sampler from JCH. I did not realize it was so easy to do color. I have been limiting myself to df96 mono. Now it is time to play with the big boys. Thank you for your simple, yet classy presentation.

one suggestion, have you tried the Ilford Simplicity line of chemistry, as for beginners, these two would match up perfectly, the simplicity is a set of liquid chemistry, in child yoghurt containers, all you do is add water, and in they go! esp for young people, NO safety hazzards of scissors in the dark, due to the in-built 35 film cutter, nice and safe!!, also you don't have to label the containers, as two of the sachets are single shot, the 'wetting agent' is multi-use (from ilfords site, only need a couple of cap fulls); no need to mix powders, and risk splashing from multiple contacts with raw undiluted chemistry, all the hard chemistry stuff is done, just like making cordial, add solution to water, then in the lab box!

@04:01 😊. Thirty plus year ago my parents were Mister Donut franchisees with multiple locations here in Florida. I’m hoping when I’m in for the games to get to a shop for some swag. In my youth I’ve made enough doughnuts on the midnight shift I probably won’t want another. Unfortunately we’re not allowed to extend our stays past our work assignments. Hopefully I’ll see a day off to get into the city and maybe stop in your place too... fingers crossed 🤞

I hope you went back and gave that picture to the Biryani lady, that seems like an awfully sweet thing to do. Overall I think your images were quite good, and the way you critiqued your own work helped me look out for same kind of stuff when I go out shooting. While developing I noticed you didn’t use any photoflo and I could see a lot of droplets of liquid stuck to your film, and I wan thinking this would leave a lot of residue spots if allowed to dry as-is. Seems like the images came out pretty clean though, which is great!

I've got the C41 chems from Cinestill and their Df96 B&W kit as well. Luckily, I can buy the kits here in Oz. They've also just released an ECN 2 kit as well. I like that shot in front of "grandma mama daughter" as well. Find out who that lady was and how to contact her, then get her to come back to the store to walk in front of it, again. She could be your "store muse" :D :P :P

Hi JCH! One tip for after using the lab box. U need to open up the blade section on the 135 module to wipe the metal blade dry after developing. Or else the blade gets rusty and the rust bits can get into the developing tank! Don’t ask how I know that...

Getting chems onto the cutter blade is much less likely to happen if you use 300ml of solution instead of 500ml as he's doing here (for reasons that escape me.) Also, pop off the film chamber before you put the box in the sink to rinse. One more thing: how many times do I have to tell you noobs not to rewind the leader all the way into the cartridge? Leave the tail out and fold it over so you know it's exposed. Darn kids...

Great video - I am gobsmacked by your results, especially since you don´t seem to do anything to maintain the temperature during the developing process - the chems must loose temperature from 39 degrees C during the developing time in the lab box. I have always thought that even minor temperature variations from the ideal temperature would give you horrible colorshifts etc. I use the Cinestill C41 liquid kit for developing color films, and have the chemicals in my steel Nikor drums submersed in the water, when not agitating, for fear of loosing temperature - yet my results still seem to be sketchy ! I have the Lab Box for 120 film but have only used it for B/W film since they are not so temperature dependent (or so I thought) - but have I totally misunderstood the thing about the temperature dependence of color film ?? I am tempted to try your method for my next color film, just to see what happens - perhaps I have been overcomplicating the process !!
@jorgemtrevino
@jorgemtrevino Жыл бұрын
I bet the process scenes are staged. I've always tried to be quite precise and consistent with fill-in/fill-out dev & blix times, specially when I printed RA4 -then it was essential for me to keep the film base consistent from roll to roll, otherwise I'd spend hours working a print with multiple exposures and different filtration; God bless Adobe & Epson! Now that I've gone hybrid I let VueScan and Adobe Camera Raw take care of the color balance.
