In this episode of Mike Drop, former DEVGRU Operator Eddie Penney returns to the show and talks about his new book: Unafraid: Staring Down Terror as a Navy SEAL and Single Dad, BJJ and a myriad of other topics.
After two combat deployments with SEAL Team Two, Eddie tried out and was selected for DEVGRU, the elite of the elite and the tip of the nation’s spear in the fight against terrorist threats worldwide. Terrified of missing the action, Eddie became a breacher, the first man to the door on a target and one of the most dangerous jobs imaginable. Eddie endured five more deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa in his role, relishing in taking the fight to the enemy as he engaged in countless examples of extreme close-range combat.

He is a former navy seal, a seal instructor, a world class dog trainer, an illuminating broadcaster, author, and devoted family man. His mellifluous voice calms the seven seas and his plain words talk sense into the most rabid woke customers. Morgan Freeman takes refuge in his soothing voice. Cesar Milan KZfaq’s him when he doesn’t know what to do with an animal. If tooting your own horn is the harbinger of death, he will live forever. He knows exactly what’s wrong with the country, but would not presume to be the answer. If you are looking for a hug he will tell you to choke yourself, which is really a tough love way of getting you to hug yourself. If friends make a man rich, he is the Elon Musk of relationships. This is the first time I've ever heard any audio problems at all and I've watched countless interviews that Mike has had so f*** anybody who can't get past the audio .they can kick rocks, great interview Mike keep them coming we appreciate it . And Eddie you're 👍 great to hear you again.

Not to degrade any of your other guests, but your first interview with Edie Penny was a stellar interview. I don’t think anyone else could have had such an open, honest, personally experienced dialogue as that show. I found myself engulfed in these stories, and realizing the resilience of some humans. Thank you for that fine example. I also appreciate this follow up interview. Please keep up the good work, and thanks again.

I think the audio is fixed to mono instead of stereo in the editting software if Mike's makes that adjustment and re-upload it will sound normal.

First time I've heard about Eddie. Thanks, Mike, for having him on (again, apparently). You do interviews like the "professional journalists" never could do. I only got 20 minutes through this (your interviews are worth the time, but they ...ah.. take a lot of time, ya know?😏), and I knew that I wanted to read his book (which I bought, and am wading through now). That doesnt matter.. he never turned the mics on or didn't press record and just used the cameras mic I'm assuming. Those mics record in mono anyway

very rare to have experienced tier 1 people open up about the intricacies of their work. I hope the audio can be fixed. Gotta have an a/v person to monitor everything live. Shawn Ryan has had similar issues. I guess they don't get paid enough to stick around..been there done that

Mike, I can help you with the sound problem. Flutter echo is wrecking it. Get some absorption or diffusor panels to mount on the wall and possibly the ceiling. These can be made yourself or purchased at Sweetwater or like musical supply. Make sure no reverb is on the audio interface. Lastly, check phase. Out of phase mics can make it sound like this. PM me if you need help. I don't live too far away from you and I can help sort this out. Love the show and this is an easy fix.
