Devialet Mania - Sound Test with Equaliser Comparison

In this sound test, I test the Devialet Mania using different equalizer settings. One is the default flat equalizer that the Mania comes with and the second is my custom equalizer that I feel is best for my music taste and ear.

5:38 that moment when the bass is so heavy that the tripod where the camera is sitting is shaking THE ENTIRE TABLE for a bluetooth speaker this is incredible and at only 70% of volume and also with the equalizer the way he put the Highs sound amazing in the other tests i thought the devilaet mania sounded a bit warm a bit more laid back more "vintage" but with the EQ settings it sounds like a DJ's best friend

Hahahaha I couldn’t believe it when it started shaking my entire desk, it’s ridiculous how much bass this little guy puts out, but doesn’t surprise me as it’s a Devialet thing to do that! The EQ settings can definitely make it a completely different beast if you want to “shake things up” lol

The Harman/Kardon Onyx Studio 7, 6 or 5 that is way more cheaper than Devialet can do the same shaking bass in the entire table, in frequencies beginning at 37Hz and up, maybe 35Hz if you use an equalizer and with no distortion even if you use an equalizer (like PowerAmp Equalizer) and push the bass up. The incredible thing is that the Devialet is a compact thing and can reproduce 30Hz with a heavy and high quality sound! That's really amazing.

I definitely like the custom EQ settings you chose. I also love the HDR content. I'm watching your videos on a 55" LG C1 connected to both an M1 Mac Mini and an Nvidia Shield TV Pro using a Samsung Dolby Atmos sound bar. I'm interested in you conducting this same test with this unit against a wall. Cheers!

The base may sound tighter with better outline when you place the speaker on harder stands. The table maybe creating resonance to sound boomy.

Definitely a good point. It sounds tighter in the other positions too and also against a wall as the ASC adjusts

I think I have never seen or heard a "Bluetooth speaker" shake the camera 😂😂 Great videos and nice looking room btw. Just a quick input: if you ever do a side by side comparison again (like in the last video) it is easier to understand the differences in sound, if you record both songs continuously on each speaker and cut from one to the other in post, seemlessly. Maybe ad a little text saying which one is playing at the moment. Hope it helps😊

Thanks for the valuable feedback George, I will definitely do that in future, just wanted to make a quick video without the need to do much post editing, but as this channel seems to be growing, I would also like to make it more professional so I’ll definitely do that! The camera shake from the bass was hilarious, I really wasn’t expecting that hahaha. Cheers for the compliments too 😊

I have an important question: I got mine yesterday, i love the sound basically, but if i listen to some tracks with an hard bass like some house or techno tracks and adjust bass/treble to plus 3 or higher and i go at 75% volume, than it sounds like the mania couldn’t handle that bass, it sounds like overdrive, like the membranes hit something or the air couldn’t get out from the inside… but that’s only with bass heavy songs, in other normal songs i could set it to +3 or so and go to 100% volume without this problem, so inreally don’t know if it’s normal because it’s simply to much bass for this thing if i put the eq to plus or if my mania is broken… 🤔 And it’s only on one side, not on the other which is strange too, but that could eventually be because it’s not exactly the same on the inside on both sides ? The thing is, i think if the speaker would be broken, then it wouldn’t play without distortion if i put the eq on neutral and 100% volume because that’s allready bass heavy, or am i wrong ? But at the same time i am a little bit disappointed because on a premium brand with the i think most expensive speaker in this class that shouldn’t be possible to acchieve an distortion in my opinion, even if i adjust the bass to +6! Could you please try this song and put the bass to +6 and go about 70% so i know if i have to send it back or its normal ? The song was: „Kolter - washed away“ and i heard it on spotify via airplay

I'm surprised they are still using Bluetooth 5.0 for such a high-end speaker. You think they would've been at 5.2 or higher

They rather prefer you use WIFi or Spotify Connect to play music on it. Bluetooth is like a last resort...

I love it! Mine developed a weird sound though, whenever I change tracks it makes a weird sound so I’m sending it back to Devialet to have a look at it! But on the whole it’s an awesome product

@@Optora. Congratulations! I didn’t end up finding a solution so I sent it back to Devialet and they replaced it with a new unit that does not do the same thing. It might have been that specific speaker!

Connect it to a laptop, watch a video and see if you experience sound latency.

Yeah, it depends what you use! If you have Spotify you can use Spotify connect. It’s not casting per se but it’s still better than Bluetooth

@@langamlalazi6803 I use KZfaq music. I bought this is, on its way..... It's getting returned without even opening the box. It's a shame that companies alienate Android users. Oh well I guess it's the viva Copenhagen for me. That's a much better speaker anyway.

The Vifa Copenhagen is great! I agree with you though, I use google ecosystem mainly and now this has been annoying that I can’t connect my B&O A9 on the multi room with this Mania, it’s annoying! I don’t think it would have been hard to include chromecast into it
