If using Nano brain to control a rack system if the remote disables its IR how do you enable to the remote to control the TV in a room? We are exploring bringing on Ava as a line because often we will have systems with TV back feed to distributed audio systems and need ability to control the equipment in back room but also single device to control the tv (since the smart tv acts as majority of source).

Hi Adam. There are three ways you could do that. If the TV has IP control drivers, then that is one option. If you can reach the TV with the AVA Flat IR Emitter from the back room Brain, then that is another option. And if neither of those work, you could also use another Nano Brain.

@@jeffcooper1099 For some devices, CEC can be an option, but TVs can be a challenge with CEC. That's in part why AVA has been swiftly adding IP drivers for the major brands. Sony Bravia and Samsung both have IP drivers now, and we are doing work to add LG.

Was all set to pull the trigger until you said the brain and remote won’t use IR at the same time. I guess it’s still my Harmony until it dies! Now if could use two brains at once that would be great but I’m thinking it would just be easier to leave IR on the remote active.

You can indeed use two brains at once, and AVA OS can control many models of TV using TCP/IP.

AVA only sells to professionals installers.

While IP and IR Drivers are the most common, Matter and Zigbee are essential going forward. I.e Zigbee Low Voltage Shades, Matter Light Switches. Thousands and thousands more...

Matter and Zigbee would be interesting extensions to AVA OS. Our first priority is solid control of AV equipment, which is why AVA OS has put IP, IR, and CEC first. That does not rule out protocols (Matter, Zigbee 3, Zwave, Bluetooth LE), it just means we focus on where a platform starting from AV remote control should focus. Meanwhile, we do track how protocols like Matter are executing. (Example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbdzY8KH3t6diXk.html)

The decision to disable IR on the remote when using the Brain is baffling. This is something you could do with an MX450 and MRF260 for many, many years. Trying to setup a demo in my home to test but with only one brain it’s absolutely unusable. No IP drivers for my LG tv, Yamaha AVR, or Roku. Roku!? Seriously it has an amazing API why is it only IR!? Yamaha and LG have had bulletproof IP control forever! Was looking at this as an alternative to C4 for single room theaters but I honestly can’t recommend this at this price point in this condition. I really wanted to love this thing because it looks and feels great but I’m thoroughly disappointed.

Hey, @stolenpillow - Please have a look at what came in the two previous updates to AVA OS. They show how we continue to advance the capabilities of AVA OS. We previously added Sony TVs and Samsung TVs. With LG's excellent API that you mention, it's likely just a matter of time. I'm a fellow Roku user, and I am eager for that particular IP driver, too. @@AVAOS Hi. Ideally I'd love to be able to control all my devices already integrated in the background via Home assistant. is that possible? Would make this a no brainer for me. an HA integration would be immense.

@@aaronaaron1611 So, you already have a platform handling Zigbee, RF, bluetooth. ;) We do not have an API-based integration with Home Assistant at this time, but you should be able to run the Home Assistant android app on AVA Cinema Remote. That would give you all the control of Home Assistant from the touch screen on the remote.

@@AVAOS Thanks. Yes I do :) However I really want an intuitive good looking remote to deal with it all and the Harmony is cutting it. Thats where AVA would fill in the void. Would the dynamic button pad map itself to the HA app intuitively or would that be a bit tough?

@@aaronaaron1611 Hey, Aaron: Got it. In that case you would probably not be using AVA OS, but using Home Assistant instead. That takes us afield from your original question about protocols supported by AVA OS. As I mentioned before, because Cinema Remote is a Google-certified Android device, it can run Home Assistant. However, your question about Dynamic Keypad is important. Support for Dynamic Keypad would require the developers of the Home Assistant app for Android to integrate using our Dynamic Keypad API. No one from their team has approached us about this, yet, but we would welcome it.
