@@ferretwonderland Youre very welcome...trying to get my bases covered before I begin and doing alot of my own research on top of watching those who are doing the same thing...one of my main focus are testing kits. I want to know whats in my water. One thing I've learned is you must keep track of the mineral content in the water thats being used, so on top of a master test kit for the normal things, I've also got a dissolved oxygen test kit, iron, phosphates, etc. Im sure this will probably lead to a quality RO system over time, to avoid long term mineral buildup....I love aquariums and know the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate cycle, but I want to know and be able to speak in full detail about every step....and recognize early when things may begin going out of balance. Its been about 20 years since I've had an aquarium.....been working on the scape design Id like to create for weeks now...and the plants have me a little anxious because I have no experience at all with them....but I do know the goal is to have the plants become more significant than the best filters can. Im prepared....time is coming and Im super excited. Got a small tank to start with. 9 gallon Fluval Flex. Small volume of water is a good crash course as things will happen quickly in the first couple of months. Ready to take it all on. Youre welcome. Hopefully in time I'll become much more educated and will be able to make some great creations....goal of course is to be able to create something like you have here!

As usual you did a really great job! In the construction of my aquarium I used cork, but first I had to boil it, because when immersed it tends to release tannins which darken the water. As far as you know, can the cork board be used safely without this pre-treatment? Thanks =)

I used carbonized cork, as this process can help reduce the release of tannins and make the cork more suitable for aquarium environments.

Isopods in a terrarium or vivarium setup primarily serve as cleanup crew members. They are detritivores. In general, they are not considered as a food source for crabs or other larger organisms within the same habitat.
