I feel like it so perfectly sums up the themes of this series. DMC has always been very clear about what makes the real monsters. There are good demons and evil humans, but they are separated by the same thing. The ability to love and care for someone other than themselves.

First time I saw Dante being sarcastic when he gave the sword of his brother to Nero. I was like I’m sure he is a son of Sparda or the son of Vergil. My friends told me stop thinking about things like this we will never know. Well the answer is now public :)

One thing I love about the ending is that it really shows how much Dante has grown up. DMC3 young Dante was so much more brash and crazy but in DMC4 we got to see him be much more calm and cool, work and trust other characters, and pass on the torch to another young demon hunter, which why Nero's "Let's rock" at the end is so perfect.

A few years ago, Dante's goodbye finger sign basically meant things like "I don't know, ask Capcom” or "Farewell forever kid" to the fans. Today, it can potentially mean "I'll see you again in 2019". Edit : Today, it definitely means "See you again in 2019" :)

Some people imagine Nero is what Sparda was like in his youth and I really love this headcanon. The way he seems to understand his grandpa (despite never meeting or knowing him) more than the supposed worshippers makes it all the better.

Never realized this until I saw a comment, Dante put two fingers up, like the number 11. Devil May Cry 5 came out 11 years later.

This ending is depressing. It seems like Itsuno and his team all kinda felt like this would be the last DMC game, but they didn't want to say goodbye. Or even know how to say it. "So... is this the end? "Maybe... maybe." "Will we meet again?" *No answer*

I just love how Dante leaves at the end, entrusting Nero with his brother’s sword and giving him complete freedom on what he does next. “What you do from here is your call,” he says. Dante is such a true hero. Like Superman in DC he just loves and protects humanity, gives them their freedom, doesn’t ask for any recognition or anything at all in return. No one seems to even know he exists. He doesn’t care. The day is saved and that’s all that matters to him. I love Dante.

Underrated moment is when Nero willingly gives up the Yamato when Dante was about to leave. Dante would not have been surprised if he held on to it after experiencing the power of the sword but if that happened, he would have to take it by force. HOWEVER, the fact that Nero was willing to return it simply because Dante said it belonged to him was enough for Dante to let the kid have it. He knew that it was in the right hands because the one holding it isn't power-hungry or evil.

This was my first DMC game, it was great playing as NERO since I had no idea who dante was as well. Felt like I'm nero himself curious about the world. Now that I've played DMC 5 as well as watching other DMC lore, it's refreshing to rewatch these videos as to see what I missed knowing

8:00 is such a highlight with the triumphant music in the background and JYB's terrific voice acting, throughout the entire game you get to know nero, wanting to play as dante, but eventually grow a liking to Nero with his easier gameplay style and once you finally get the chance to play as him again? You welcome him and gladly take control as you conquer through a gauntlet of bosses. The setup and pay off of Nero no longer being ashamed of his hand, UGH it felt like i was watching a climactic finish to a movie and it still does to this day despite having loads of things cut.

This boss fight shows just how powerful love can be in the DMC universe. Sanctus despite using the legendary Devil Sword Sparda is unable to draw out much of its power due to not being able to understand feelings and love Nero despite using the weaker Yamato is able to defeat him due to his love for Kyrie as well as his affinity with Yamato, essentially his dad’s own weapon Sanctus couldn’t anticipate that a descendant of Sparda’s blood would show him what real power is

Reboot was a fucking joke. This dante was the very reason i loved dmc. Story was fantastic.

Ive been rewatching old dmc endings tonight, idk why. Prob bc of the special editions ending making me reminisce. Ahh, i love this series.
