Of course they are. Vergil has yamato and can travel when he want and where he want. After a looong fighting they come back to earth

The menu is just for fun. Canonically they are still in the underworld until a future game, novel, comic book, etc. depicts them leaving and it's confirmed to be canon.

Vergil knows that it would never end when Dante said it, yet he smiled after that. Vergil is another man, he isnt fighting Dante for power, he does it cause its merely the only thing considered interaction he did with his brother his whole life. So hes just having fun right now and so is Dante. They are both happy reunited as long lost brothers no longer fighting for ideals, that is a beautiful ending.

I love moments like this in games or shows with fierce rivalries where they actually get along. Especially with siblings. It really reinforces a semblance of a familial bond that people might not pay attention to at first, and brings more impact to bigger, more important fight scenes later on.

Ok, its been implied that Dante and Vergil are now trapped in the underworld with no apparent way out. But...why doesn't Vergil just use Yamato to create a portal out of there?

Considering what vergil had to do in 3 to get to the underworld he probably needs more than just the Yamato to cut the portal open... think its cause their pa sealed the underworld.

It’s possible you can only teleport within the dimension you’re in, you’d still need a way to enter/exit the underworld the normal way. Makes sense as to why Vergil couldn’t just cut a portal inside in DMC3, meaning he can’t cut a portal to the outside in DMC5

It has many names, some call it the underworld, some call it the demon world, and others call it hell. Plus hell in the Divine Comedy has elements and monsters from Greek mythology. Hell has the Underworld's rivers, Styx, Acheron, and Phlegethon, and lake Cocytus. There is Charon ferrying the souls into Limbo. There is king Minos in Limbo(1st layer of Hell). There is Cerberus in Gluttony(3rd layer of Hell). There is the personification of wealth, Plutus in Greed(4th layer of Hell). There is the Minotaur in Violence, along with Centaurs which shoot arrows at the damned convicted of violence towards each other to keep them submersed in Phlegethon(7th layer of Hell).

Lest all forget he kill millions and got away with it. I prefer Dmc3 story over this anytime. That game got consequences and a massage in the end but dmc5 reckon all other entries and itself past the last 2 mission. Make you feels stupid for expecting something decent at the end, like c'mon the build up was great till then.
