and now Bettman has a REAL problem. He has to decide which Canadian team he wants in the finals. Oilers or Toronto. NO way he wants an all Canadian finals. Ratings would be great in Canada but lousy in the US. So highlight McDavid or give Leaf's a shot at the Cup. Going to be interesting.

NJ vs Carolina does not scream excitement unless you are actually a hockey fan. but if you are to tell me the US is not into Matthews vs Mcdavid lead teams in the Final, you just should not care for Hockey. that is the dream matchup of the current teams still playing.

As a ranger fan i want to congratulate the Devils fans. HELL OF A TEAM. I felt pretty rotten yesterday. Turned off the TV after the third goal was scored. I put a fork in her cuz she was done. Watching the handshake today makes me feel a lot better. It's a great tradition.

@@Empirestateexp What a casual take. He out-produced Panarin, Zibenajad, and Trochek. Take away Kane and Tarasenko from the roster and this series probably ends in 5. The Game 2 win doesn’t happen without those two. Everyone blames Kane for the reason they lost - yet, how is a rental even remotely responsible for the core roster faltering?

Artemi Panarin was the biggest disappointment in that series. He had two assists in game one and then zero points for the rest of the series, he didn’t score a goal. The people who cover the Rangers were ripping into him for that brutal performance. As a player that had 92 points in 82 games in the regular season he must be better than that the next time the Rangers make the playoffs. Same thing with Alexis Lafreniere, he had zero points in the series. He was also terrible. Igor Shesterkin can’t do it all on his own. While goaltending is EXTREMELY important in the playoffs you need your offensive firepower to come through and it didn’t.

As an Isles fan same here. At least they didn’t pull a Bruins collapse. The Islanders had to fight their way to get into the playoffs and the Bruins dealt with no adversity this year with 65 wins. Obviously I wish the Islanders could’ve beaten Carolina but it wasn’t meant to be.

Aside from Trouba, these handshakes were most physical NY had been in this series. Someone check their hands to make sure they didn't break any nails or aggravate a paper cut.

As a devils fan this was a lot of highs and lows this series. One for the ages. Goalies stole the show. Seeing trouba talk to timo gives me major props to him. Mad respect for that. Wasn’t feeling that way following the legal hit but timo is ok thank goodness. Great series

Rangers had no chance from the start, they have 4 Canadians on the roster compared to 10 for New Jersey. Just like the Bruins, 6 Canadians compared to 14 for Florida. Always bet on the team in a best of 7 that has the most Canadians.

Ferraro is the worst. Loves throwing young players under the bus w/ his commentary. Loves negatively naming (chirping like he's still a player) guys who get beat. Calls them out like they don't deserve to be in the league. Thrives on burying guys who lose and chalking it up to poor effort. Real keen analysis when it comes to who fails. Kind of like, "Patrik Stefan, you should be embarrassed for what you just did." Can you imagine if he was calling the Oilers' game with Steve Smith's own goal back in l986? Ferraro would want to see Smith sent down to the minors. Enter Gretzky the next season passing the cup off to Smith to hoist. Ray has no vision, never did as a player either.

Unfortunately this time the Rangers are on the losing side of a Game 7. Sadly, it can be clearly seen that the Rangers allowed the success they had from last season get into their heads, and it costed them dearly in the playoffs this year. GG's to New Jersey. Wouldn't surprise me if the Rangers and Devils met in the postseason again soon. Good luck in Round 2 Devils.

Happy Timo Meier is ok because Truba tried to injure him with the potentially legal hit but with intent to injure… Similar to his forefather Scott Stevens who ended careers and gave people post concussion syndrome. Both players planned their hits waiting for moment before its players head down and using the shoulder to hurt and injure players.

Lafrenière is incredibly slow and has absolutely zero impact in big games. His skating is worse than below average, it's bad. No mobility, no acceleration, nothing. It prevents him from doing things he could at junior level. I'm getting sick of comparisons with Jack Hughes and people claiming Hughes progression was also slow. Couldn't be more wrong. Hughes showed flashes of greatness early on and always displayed elite skating and puck handling. Statistically, Hughes was at 0.6 pts/game in his 2nd season, over a point per game at his 3rd, and got 43 goals and 99 pts this year. Lafrenière never reached 0.5 pts/game. The league is getting faster and Alexis disappears against fast teams because he simply can't keep up with the pace. Let's face it: Lafrenière is a bust.

I mean, I think the Devils were the underdogs, starting after game 2.. They've been dominant all season long, way better than the Rangers. Devils might just go on a deep deep run, they are so young and talented, I'm sitting here picturing them with a young Luke Hughes on the roster as well.. Scary stuff.

Meier and Trouba, two of my favorite players. This series sucked! Every game was dominated by one team or the other, and unfortunately, the wrong team came out on top. With the Rangers, Bruins, Avalanche, and Lightning out early the road to the cup for Toronto has been freshly paved. Will they choke or truimph? We shall see. I liked the Leafs until they chose that stupid song for the goal song. I hope they get the boot!

This was not a great series, However, the Devils showed off their speed, the Ranger showed off their lazy play.... Devils are on the path to be a dynasty, the Rangers have to retool, not rebuild. Starting with a tougher coach willing to bench lazy players. I also think its time to see what we can get for Panarin in a trade, he is not worth the money he is paid, he will never be a playoff player...

I don't agree, Trouba hit was clean, and the players including Meier knows it was clean and that's why Trouba will get the respect from opponent team.

Puck watching, centre ice, heading over the blue line into the ozone, on the side of one of the hardest hitting defenseman in the league. Meier signed his death warrant before Trouba even touched him. Meier knew it was stupid, that's why he smiled and acknowledged Trouba for a great hit in the handshake. There's so much emphasis on speed and skill in the league now, that forwards oftentimes forget that speeding through the neutral zone or over the offensive blue line with your head down is a good way to find yourself in the quiet room if you aren't careful

Trouba had no choice than to finish the hit after MEier put his head down. It was a clean hit, and this is coming from a Devils fan.
