Thanks for watching my first episode in this series of - Patterns to Try this Summer. I’ve started the series with a favourite garment of mine - woven dress.

Thanks for this Angela Love my Elodie.Have 1 short everyday one and a longer lawn one. Sized down the bodice. I think the newer hashtag was #closetcoreelodie so you might find even more there! Just making the Pattern Scout Byrdie with our 14 year old (shirred back peasant ish ) in a double gauze ! She did the shirring .......you can definitely do it !

I'm just starting the Elodie wrap dress and recommend toiling the bodice as I had to make it longer and adjust the waist to fit. It was really quick and simple to do, and I love it already, even in my old duvet fabric 😂. Thanks for all your dress suggestions, I'm off to check them all out...

Wonderful inspiration Angela. I do love the look of dresses & I enjoy making them, I just don’t seem to wear them on a daily basis so I’m trying to resist adding to my collection….but your not helping with wonderful idea like these🤣😂

I loved this video Angela. What choices! Can't wait to see which patterns you choose to make. Although I usually favour strappy type dresses, I do like the Seasons of East shirt dress.

Fabulous selection of dresses. I really fancy making the Seasons of East one and also the last McCall's one you showed. I have make several dresses but i amvreally bad at wearing them. I just love wearing trousers. Thank you for the video.

Wonderful ideas and plans Angela! Lydia Naomi is a wonderful pattern designer and if you watch one of her vlogs from 2 years ago titled 5 summer dresses in one day, she shows you how to modify the back with elastic channels so you don’t have to install a zip. Genius! 🙌 Another dress pattern you may like is the McCalls 8104. It’s a button down with a pretty silhouette. I’ve made two and want more! Happy sewing! 💖

Angela, I think this will be a great series! The Sicily Slip Dress really caught my eye. I keep seeing makes of bias cut slip dresses but at my age a shoestring strap isn't something I'm comfortable in but the cowl neck with the wider straps looks very promising! Looking forward to seeing which dresses you get made this summer.

What a great video well done. I have made the seasons of the east dress in the Dashwood studio in green and it is gorgeous. However I didn’t like the sleeves the pleat seemed to make me look very wide across the shoulders so I just made an ordinary sleeve instead. Also the pattern didn’t tell you to interface the front buttonhole facing edge which I didn’t do and after I had made all 15 buttonholes what should have been a straight edge down the front of the dress ended up being scalloped. Anyway I loved the dress and will make a another one. Good luck with your choices.

I bought the same Elodie kit from Guthrie & Ghani and made it up for a wedding I was attending in July 2022. I wore it for the wedding, but haven't worn it again since. I felt it was a little on the big side for me and was an unflattering length. I am not really keen on the grown on wide sleeves, either. I will try it on again and see how I feel about it now. I'm sure you will be more successful with your than I was. Your slip dress is going to be beautiful in that gorgeous fabric. The Dream Frock is lovely, too. The green McCalls dress looks fantastic on you. I can't wait to see which of those dresses you actually make

Thank you Angela. I had bought the Elodie dress but haven’t made it. The main reason is that my waist has increased so I’m unsure how it would look. I feel as if my shape has changed.😞

Hi Ruth - changing body shape can be so hard. Have you thought about going into some shops and trying some different RTW garments on - and experimenting with your style? You don't have to buy anything, but look at what you like and feel comfortable in. Good luck - and I hope that you find something that you want to make, love and enjoy wearing ❤️ Thank you 🥰

Hi Angela! I love dresses but I have no where to wear them. So. I’ll making casual dresses. I’m making a shift New Look dress right now out of left over quilting cotton. I’m looking for quick, easy summer dress patterns. That last blue fabric is amazing. It will make a beautiful dress for you

Great vlog as always love the information about different styles. I made the Sicily dress after I saw your picture of you in it on your cruise, but although I made it perfectly the cowl neck seemed to have an extra crease across the high bust before the cowl if you see what I mean am wondering if i need to make it bigger on that area ❤❤

Aaahh I think because the fabric is ct on the bias and can pull slightly across the bust area - and cause and 'extra line'! I know exactly what you mean. If you have some spare fabric try going up a size and just making the top - see if that helps. It's a lovely dress though isn't it! Thank you 🥰

Dear Angela, I noticed in the background of your video that you have a Husquvarna. I am thinking of buying one but they are very expensive and there is not too many people that own them that I can ask for advice. Would you be able to tell me how you like it and how has it been for you? Is it pretty sturdy? How hav we you enjoyed the features? I hope you get back to me, thank you, Karen Clement.

Hia Karen - I absolutely love mine, but my mum always had Husqvarna machines when I was younger, so it was also a machine I felt comfortable with. It definitely feels sturdy and it runs very smoothly. Do you watch Becky who is Notes from the Sewing Room? I think that she is an ambassador for Husqvarna - so may be able to help you.
