Apparently PepsiCo, MTN DEW and Red Lobster have joined together in some unholy crusade to offend the heavens by endeavoring against natural law to create the abomination known only as The DEW Garita, and you all begged me to make it, so here it is. I'm honestly embarrassed by how much work and time went into this one. Multiple road trips to find a Red Lobster location that had the DEW Garita, bribing bartenders, haranguing social media accounts, I even tracked down the very nice person who quite literally makes all the glassware that Red Lobster uses. She's the one who told me you can just buy the glass at Red Lobster. Now I know! So far as I know, this episode contains the actual real deal legit DEW Garita recipe, if that's the sort of thing you're interested in. It's the third drink in here, takes me a while to figure it out. I normally put the recipe here in the body of the video, but for reasons I'm holding off on that. If the coast is clear I'll update the video description in a day or so, but for now you'll have to watch the video for it. Also I think this might be my finest hour.

I once ordered a Margarita at a terrable bar and they put sprite in it. I told the bartender you should have just told me you don't know how to make that and then offered me something you can get right like a can of Bud Light.

RECIPE: In the shaker: 1oz Sour Mix 0.5oz Cointreau or Triple Sec (or other orange liquor) 0.25oz Midori 1.25oz Tequila (officially 1800 Silver) Open pour into official Dew™ Garita™ glass rimmed with red sugar. Top up with roughly 2oz of Mtn Dew™. Mostly this is for my own reference but you are welcome. About to go try this out, pray for me.

Hi there, red lobster Bartender here, wanted to say this vid made my day. I think our store was one of the first to try selling this cocktail, don't quote me on that though. BUT HUZZAH YOU HAVE DISCOVERED THE RECIPE OF THIS.......amalgamation of dew and rita. XD Quick few notes if anyone is curious. The sour mix we use is Pepsi brand, and i'm unsure if you can get it from commercial stores. Also, the ratio we use is actually 3/4 of an ounce of Midori, and only 1/4 of an ounce of Cointreau/Triple Sec. Love your vids man, can't wait to see what you make next. =D

Historically, Mountain Dew was originally made as a chaser for moonshine. I wonder if you could somehow replace the tequila with moonshine as a sort of way to pay homage to the soda's Appalachian roots?

It comes close, but there's a local fast food place where I live that started selling margaritas shortly before the pandemic, and now they offer them through the drive thru (sold in a sealed bag so you don't have an open container, of course). Let me tell you, a $3.00, 32 ounce margarita in a Styrofoam cup obtained from a drive-thru window is about as 2020 as it gets.

so my best friends favorite drink and mixer is mountain dew, and she was so excited when we saw that red lobster was doing this, til we remembered the pandemic is still a thing. i decided to suprise her for her birthday by splurging and buying all the supplies to do it at home and it worked out so well. were drinking these and watching halloween town together and having a blast. thank you so much for sharing this video!!!

Former Red Lobster bartender: the sour mix is a concentrate that comes in half gallon containers. It's diluted 4:1 with water. The 1.25oz is Red Lobster's standard pour for some reason. I have no idea why. I'd also be willing to bet that it's not supposed to be open poured, but good luck getting a chain bartender to strain over fresh ice.

I've been mixing midori with mountain dew for years. It's delicious. Honestly, dew is the best mixer i've found for just about every alcohol. Live wire dew is my favorite, so i'm not surprised they used an orange liqueur. All in all, i had not heard of this before, but this sounds fantastic and i can't wait to get wasted on them.

I like how you start off in this one sort of annoyed at the idea, the concept, the world that would force you to make this episode... and then you spend like $300, go to multiple Red Lobsters, call in countless favors, all to make... something you were not terribly fond of to begin with. Got a suggestion for another nerd drink: Shadowrun has a beverage called "Hurlg", or trollbeer. It's a strong ale (barleywine level at least) brewed with all kinds of spices including apparently a lot of nutmeg, and it's mildly toxic to anybody with a less than trollish constitution :P.

Since you have an abundance of gamer syrup, I would suggest making a variety of Gamer drinks. Some good some just thrown together the likes of which not only confirms God's demise but makes sure he isn't coming back anytime soon. (also I thought it was crushed Doritos on the rim of that glass)

I first tried a Dewgarita at Buffalo Wild Wings and I loved it. Ever since then I've been trying to find a way to make it since margarita's and Mtn Dew are one of my favorite drinks. I watch you as not only a source of entertainment but as a guide on How To Drink for two years now and even I find it ironic that you would be making this drink but am glad you did :)

So for rimming the glass; I remember a drinks episode of Good Eats, where Alton recommended dipping the rim of the glass into the base spirit you are using and letting it evaporate a little instead of using lime juice. I have done this ever since & I find it works out great.

I made these at home years ago when I was feeling lazy. lol. Then the internet is like LIAR and it's like come on man, who hasn't put some Dew into margarita mix to get a little fizz going? Nothing to be proud of, you just make some weird ass cocktails when you are single. XD Also, I always thought the Red Lobster thing was rimmed with crushed flamin' hot cheetos for some reason.

I can confirm the weird ass cocktails when single. Have you tried replacing the Kahlua in a White Russian with Campari? I'm still working on the optimal amounts of everything. Goes great as a chaser to eating a pepperoncini. I call it a White Polish by the way.

You may like a Dew drink in came up with one time when I was broke. All I had was bottom shelf rum, some Mountain Dew Throwback (regular dew doesn't work) and a lime. I grabbed a glass and some ice, and blew my own mind with the taste. I call it the "Faux-hito." Over ice, add one ounce of lime juice, 2 ounces of silver rum, and top off with a 12oz can of Dew Throwback. Gently stir with a straw. I like to hand it to someone and ask them if they can taste the mint. Every time, their eyes light up and they agree they can clearly taste it. Except, there is no mint! Something about the cane sugar formula seems to trick the brain into tasting something that'll isn't there. Note: measurements are not exact, I was drunk and eyeballing the pours when I invented this, so your milage may vary.

I like the radio for viewing, but I liked it being louder as a background track (unless I'm imagining that?). Also - this looks like something I'd try for a photo and never have again. The sugar alone sounds like it would keep me up all night :D
