This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell

I have owned two of these DeWalt impact guns for a couple of years. No complaints other than my neighbors borrow them regularly and don't rush to return them. They are excellent tools. Almost comical how powerful they are.

The 899 is a beast. We have one in my high schools automotive shop. Some people spilled brake fluid on it, it still works, no problems.

I just picked up the DCF899H, yesterday. The first thing I did when I got back home was to take it to a rusted lug on my 20 yr old daily driver. My lugs don't have caps so when I have to remove them, it is usually a fight with a 4-way which is a real pain in the ass. This new gun ripped that lug off "like buttuh". I love this thing!

That high torque dewalt is a beast of a gun. Used mine for over a year now in all weathers. Hasn't failed to rip any Bolt/nut loose.

As tough as it was, I finally found something I didn't like about the DCF899 but the fix was simple. The speed switch on the 899 is black plastic and under some light conditions it is difficult to see where it is set. I used a yellow paint pen on the very top of the slider for instant visibility and luck gave me a perfect colour match to boot!

I run the service truck where I work and I have the 899 and it’s a beast. I have been able to take some brake chambers off on semi trailers without an issue. It’s got some power that’s for sure which is nice. I’ve had a couple of coworkers borrow it and they like it as well. Had no problems taking lug nuts off when I did the brakes on my car a few months back.

Nice comparison. I had the DCF889P2, bought the DCF899P2 and sold my 4 month old 889 for a slight bit more than I paid for it in about 5 minutes to one of the guys at work. My brother works for Stanley/B&D so I am very thankful that he scores me quality tools at his employee price. TOTL DeWalt all the way!

Pro tip, use pb blaster on lugs that rusty. 10 extra second can save u the headache of a couple hour job turning into a multi day expensive ordeal when u strip a lug or stud.

The new XR impacts are way stronger than the old ones. I got a 891 not knowing it was the newest and was shocked at how strong it was, even against the Milwaukee guns. Yeah I bought a 891 thinking it was the 894, I just didn’t want to change battery brands.

Just a quick spec comparison on the impact guns, I dont think you mentioned. The 889 is the one I just bought because it was 130 dollars cheaper at 225+tx the 899 is 359+tx. I think part of the reason for the price jump is the 889 has 400ft-lbs torque and the 899 brushless has 700ft-lbs torque so it has almost double the power. I'm curious to see if the 889 will take the lug nuts off my truck without a struggle.

I like to see videos showing crank bolts or any bolts that you know is tighten down to at least 500lbs and see these impacts rip them loose now that would be a challenge.

The amp rating means nothing for your test. The 2 amp battery would perform exactly the same. The higher amp batteries only last longer.

My problem with the 899 is with forward & reverse button. It's to easy to bump the button in the wrong direction when using it. There's no positive clicking to latch the button into place, it just slides

I bought the midrange one because I'm not changing tires daily, I'm just keeping it for personal uses.

I have one forsale dcf899. 180 comes with battery,charger,bag. But its clean alos lol only used it one time. Had to be able to break axle nut loose and it did with ease.

I'm totally convinced on buying this now. If it's strong enough for those lug nuts then removing the ones one my car that i've been spraying WD40 for days should be a piece of cake

I spray them with pb blaster, and Break them lose with the 30 inch breaker bar.

PB blaster or power break fluid would make easy work of those bolt either way, If used a impact drill would remove them, many are rated at 1500 inch pounds which is about 125 foot pounds. When proper lubes are used you don't need 1200 foot pounds

I would recommend putting some type of lubricating fluid on the nuts and lugs. It would be much simpler and less ware and tear on your equipment. Even if it's just motor oil. Sucks when you brake your fancy toy in the middle of the job and have to go buy a new one. Great video, I wanted to buy the same impact gun, but decided it's not worth the cost. I wont be using it as much as I would like. I will just stick with my air tools.

I wonder if the Flexvolt battery would had made any difference.

Those are both still in production the big ugly one first used is not old it is a home use version an the other is the XR which is what they consider industrial use

The 889 being longer looks so much more ugly then the short 899 which looks alot more nicely proportioned

Sounds like the older DeWalt is running dry needs serviced and greased.

Noticed you tried to remove these "dry" (i.e., no PB Blaster or other penetrating fluid). The spray, given a few minutes (or even overnight) to soak in, might have been the difference between failure and success. Also, it's a 40+ y.o. rusty wheel; chances are the lug nuts weren't torqued to equal tightness at this point (if they ever were). Given the variable amounts of corrosion, this may not have been the proper forum to make the case that A was better than B. On the second lug nut, you blasted it pretty hard with the 889 and couldn't remove it. It had heated everything up a bit; you noted how hot the socket had become. It's possible that contributed to it's easy removal a few moments later (at 2:10 in) by the 899. When it quickly released, you then implied that the 899 IS the better of the two ("like buddah"). The 899 MAY be comparatively better, but this wasn't the forum to try to prove that. I'm just saying there were too many variables in play (and no instruments to measure the torque results) to make it a meaningful comparison. Those are usually made in a lab setting, where the variables can be controlled (constant heat, new steel, new fasteners tightened to close tolerances, etc.). An interesting, "real-world" throw-down, but flawed.
