In this video I unbox the kit and show you how to use it. The instructions that come with it are very vague so if you've never done this before you'll be a pro after watching my video! I'm using this to drill a deadbolt above an existing doorknob but you can use the same procedure to drill a doorknob in a blank door slab. As someone who just used this kit to install a deadbolt through a metal door, I suggest you clamp the jig in place very tightly and check to make sure it stays in place the entire time. It can slip and result in an angled cut if you're not careful. Also, if the hole saw gets stuck to the arbor, you can use an impact driver to get it free, there are several videos here on KZfaq that show how to do it.

Why didn’t you drill the other side of door frame where the striker plate goes on? That’s the info. I’m looking for . We need to know how that’s measured so the deadbolt goes in the right place. You just did half of the job

What do you use to install hole into jamb?

I normally use a 1" spade bit and then chisel out where the latch goes

Did the camp holding the jig in place get in the way when drilling the larger hole? Seems like the clamp is in the area of where the drill bit would come out through the door

yeah if i remember correctly the drill hit the black plastic. not really a big deal but they should have designed it over out of the way a little more. I'm assuming my hole wasn't perfectly straight and that's why i hit it

⁠How do I make sure I drill straight and not have this problem? I am pretty good at eyeballing something being level but I want to avoid even minor issues as I am a novice and don’t know how to fix even little problems if they arise.

I just opened mine and found the large hole saw felt too tight fitting into the guide. Did I just get an odd lemon? Did you find it difficult to get the hole saw into the guide?

Hi! I bought this kit, and was trying to use it. When I try to drill through my door, my drill try’s to turn and then stops. The drill settings is on hi, am I doing something wrong?

Low battery maybe.... sounds like a drill issue rather than a jig issue,

Is this self center? Can 1 ¾ or 2" door fit in?

I think so but I'm not 100% sure. I checked dewalts website and it says "two adjustable bushings which accept both standard backsets and both common door thicknesses"

@@BorsellinoHomeServices common door tickness was 1⅜ and sometime 1½ i can install without something like this but for efficiency i would like to order 1 .

Great question! It's a shared living space for visiting artist's and there was a long-term visiting artist and there was an issue with other visitors using her washer and dryer!!! So we had to lock them out even though it's technically a shared space
