Justin gets a DeWalt 20V backpack sprayer to help with spraying herbicides on lawns. This video features the product unpacking, assembly, and initial use. We even feature a dual nozzle sprayer wand to see if it actually saves time. How does the stock single nozzle compare with the duel nozzle boom? Watch the video and find out if the sprayer works as well as advertised. It's nice but the vent didn't work so I opened the lid a bit. The water that came inside was to prime the pump.

Water weighs about 8.34 lbs per gallon. The backpack weighs 15 lbs so 4 gallon capacity and you're carrying approximately 48 lbs on your back when first starting. Probably ok for light duty work. I bought a Pimco sprayer from TSC. It's a 20 gal capacity that you tow with your riding lawnmower. It has a boom sprayer and a wand sprayer. The unit has a cable with alligator clips that you hook to your mower battery. The wand has an adjustable tip that adjusts from mist to surge spray. It can surge spray about 20 ft. It has a pressure gauge on the pump so that you can dial in how much output for your boom sprayer. Depending on what your spraying, manufacturers list the pump pressure for their product. Works pretty good. The only thing is, they do not recommend running bleach through the pump. I've used 30 second cleaner through it but I dilute it down to about 4:1 ratio and so far I haven't had any problems. 30 second cleaner says it ok to dilute it down to this ratio, just leave it on longer before rinsing. After all the hoops, I got my military discount QR code to work. Unfortunately, I haven’t found many items it qualifies on lol. Some tape measures and hand tools I suppose? It would be great to hear how it holds against degreasers and bleach base cleaners, I used several Solo battery pumps for pressure washing chemicals spraying and they don't last long at all, I'm sticking to the good old pump sprayer now.

Ever found anything that works? I'm also looking to maybe buy something battery powered to spray pre and post treatments og bleach on driveways for pressure washing. Still sticking to good old hand pump ones? If so, what kind have you found to be best?

just started using this at work. it says not use brass cone at 7-10 setting. any experience if this is a problem?

Hi James. I have played with the brass cone setting. When the brass nozzle is tightened down, the results are misting, to near fogging. When loosened up, it becomes a jet. I did a rough measure on #6 setting and recorded a spray distance of around 15 feet. When turned up to full boogie (#10) I measured just about 20 feet. The pump sure sounded like it was under load! For “spot spraying” I can’t really think of an application where a make-or-break situation would be for the difference in an extra 5 feet?

Did the twin boom nozzle come with the backpack sprayer, or did you have to pruchase that separate? If purchased separate, is it a DeWalt product or a 3rd-party attachment. Maybe something that can be purchased at an Agricultureal-Feed Store? Some part number(s) would be helpful for sourcing. Other reviews don't appear to mention the twin-head / boom nozzle spray attachment (it would come in handy for a project I've got coming up). Thanks!

It’s a polly tank, you shouldn’t have any issues with cleaners.

IT doesn't have a monstrously big pump - it takes a bit of time to spray 1 gallon which makes for some slow walking. If there's a future upgradable part, I am hoping it can be to get to a 1.2GPM or larger pump. That should help the dual nozzle function a lot better with larger volume nozzles.

That’s a good point! The backpack is in a strange transition in between a standard handheld pump sprayer. But it’s not a viable alternative to a dedicated skid sprayer/ trailer mounted unit. A larger pump might help to close the gap! Good comment and thank you! Cheers from the Bulldog 🍻

I’d imagine. As long as it’s a low viscosity- water and/or maybe resin based. I haven’t tried a wax based product yet.

From what I’ve seen, all connections are standard. I found the 2 boom nozzle on Amazon so you should be able to find almost any attachment to work with this 👍

Hi Bulldog 🚜, I'm located in Cameroon, Africa and I'm into farming. Wanna know how much you got this DeWalt for? How many hours does the battery 🔋 last?

Thanks for the long distance view and response!! These cost around $250 without a battery and nearly $300 with a battery included. As far as how long the battery life is, I use the 9 amp/hour Flexvolt. I have sprayed 2 acres and the battery still had full life, according to the battery indicator light. Honestly a battery lasts so long I’ve never experienced a dead battery from spraying alone. Cheers from the Bulldog 🍻

I run their electric outdoor power tools. Because of that, I already carry batteries with me. If I wasn’t invested into the 60V Flex-volt line already. Perhaps I might have looked into other options. But as a commercial contractor, investing into 1 battery line is a significant investment as well as it being efficient. Cheers 🍻

@@BulldogTractor Sorry I meant that as an open question to DeWalt. Why make it bulky? Anyhow. I ended up going with the Lesco/Smith Variable Flow. They all share the same components as DeWalt and Craftman. The Lesco/Smith versions are just more compact and more professional in my opinion. I totally hear you and understand your commitment to the battery ecosystem.

How does the DeWALT hold up today? I’ve tried nearly every backpack sprayer from Flowzone, Birchmier pump AND electric version, B&G Pump version To even the Tomahawk electric backpack sprayer (garbage)

So far so good. I don’t treat it very nice, but I also don’t heavily use it. It rides in my dump truck and gets bounced around quite a bit. However I’ve only pumped about 60 gallons threw it. So light use, heavy abuse. So far, still works the same as it did when new. Hopefully that helps? Cheers from the Bulldog 🍻
